Varietyyshow-int Granton
By Muriel Lewis
GRANTON - The "Village Voices" variety show was presented by the
Granton United Church choir at the church on Friday evening. The pro-
gram consisted of severalseloctions by the choir, a trio, monologues, skits
and dialogues, all of which proved very entertaining.
The Anglican bible study group led by Rev. Stephen Emery met at the
home of Pat Cornish in Kirkton on Thursday afternoon. The theme of
study was prejudice and forgiveness.
At the St. Thomas' Anglican church on Sunday, the Reverend Stephen
Emery celebrated the Eucharist. Marlene French was the reader and Paul
Acres assisted as server. The sermon was a "Jean Vanier in Conversation"
video presentation entitled the Nature of Prejudice and a Vision of God.
Rev. Emery summed up the message by saying love and forgive, instead
of judging, and leave the condemnation to God.
A time of fellowship followed the service.
At the Granton United Church on Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes
chose "Positively Radiant" as the subject of her sermon. In a service of
Holy Baptism, the minister baptized Judith O'Neil and daughter Bailey.
The lessons were from Exodus 34, 2nd Corinthians 3 and Luke 9.

HENSALL - Residents had their
last bingo for February with the
Kippen UCW, and were thrilled
when the ladies told them they can
count on them for assistance with
walks and wheelchair rides out-
doors in August. The seniors are
very thankful for the canmtitment
of our local church groups.
Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Paul
Brunner of Zurich Mennonite'
church led the church service with
Joyce Pepper as pianist. The sen-
iors look forward to having him
back.
The video "A Tribute to George
Gershwin" was viewed by several
residents Thursday afternoon. Eve-
ryone felt a little nostalgic listening
to and watching this terrific musi-
cian.
Jack Simmons and his Swingin
Seniors were in Thursday evening
to provide entertainment and dance
music for residents at the monthly
birthday pany. Birthday greetings
to Mabel Chowen, Olive Heal,
Mary Buchanan, Christina Taylor
and Kay Hovius. Several volunteer
Auxiliary members were out to as-

We read the other day about a very simple funeral in another
city. No flowers were permitted, no music was performed; the
service was very short.
It presented a rather bleak picture, we agreed. What we con-
sider important about a full-service funeral service -- with the
"extras" just mentioned -- is that it recognizes the death, but
also presents a picture of hope for the bereaved. All is not
somber; flowers and music are subtle reminders that lite con-
tinues. Such hope is valuable therapy, indeed. As human be-
ings, we are constantly "taking pictures and storing them
away." Later on, our mind's eyes pull out the important pic-
tures in our lives. It's rather important, psychologists tell us,
for the pictures of the funeral to be warm and favorable re-
sponses.
As funeral directors, we cart advise you of these and other
"special touches" that add life and hope to funeral services.
Please call us or stop by if you would like more information.
