Successful Grand Bend parade held
By Roberta Walker
GRAND BEND - The Grand
Bald Winter Carnival Parade was,
as promised, bigger and better than
ever. Many of the spectators carried
umbrellas in an effort to keep dry,
but the rain -didn't seem to dampen
anyone's spirits, as clowns, floats, a
marching band, kids, clubs and
horses paraded past the crowds lin-
ing the main street. The police,
Benguinthe Penguin, the Royal Ca-
nadian Legion #498 and the Blue
Water Recycling truck led the way,
fora parade with a theme of the "3
R's" Recycle, Reduce, Reuse. Most
of the entries poryayed that theme.
Best's Restaurant won first prize
for their float of sewer pipes and
garbage bag clad children, "Is this
the world of tomorrow?" Hensall
EDC got second prize - with their
"White Bean Capital" display.
