Kfrkton-Woodharn Winter Carnival ready to roll
KIRKTON - Let it snow, let it
mow, let it snow.
The 23rd annual Kirkton-
Woodham Winter Carnival takes
place this weekend at the communi-
ty centre in Kirkton.
"Right now were just hoping for
snow, or at least, not to lose what
we have," Kirkton-Woodham Win
ter Carnival president Bob
Cowdrey said Monday.
The carnival has been plagued by
a lack of snow for the last several
years, Cowdrey added.
However, the president says a
good time is guaranteed despite the
weather. "We have lots of events
planned, there'll be good food and
good fun."
Family entertainment will be fea-
tured on Saturday afternoon at -the
community centre featuring "India-
na Bob" who's show includes jug-
gling, 'clowning around' and riding
a unicycle.
At the same time there will be a
mixed slow -pitch tournament out-
doors as weLas cross country ski
races for thodPwilling to brave the
elements.
Saturday night will feature a
dance where the crowning of the
snow queen will take place.
This year there are five contest-
ants competing for the crown: Faith
Wallis, 14, of RR 1 Kinnon spon-
sored by the K -W Optimist Club;
Sarah Kerslake, 17, of RR3 Exeter
sponsored by Blanshard Telephone;
Linda H16 of Kirkton,
sponsored by Kirla Hardeman,
Market; Peg-
gy Malone, 18, RR1 Granton,
sponsored by Ulch Trailer Sales
and Pauline, Brandt, 13, of Kirkton,
sponsored by Doug's Auto Service.

a car -poker rally as well as horse
drawn sleigh rides.
A pancake and sausage dinner
will be- held from 11 a.m. until 2
p.m.
Proceeds from the Winter Carni-
val go towards youth betterment in
the Kirktorl area including money
to help run the Kirkton-Woodham
community pool each summer,
money f ub scouts and brownies,
end-�'iselp sponsor ball teams.
