WARBUFF bringing inventors success • By Ray Lewis GRAND BEND - Following three years of hard work a group of Huron County secondary school teachers ax beginning to hit pay -dirt with their trivia style game, WARBUFF. Designed along the lines of Trivial Pur- suit, WARBUFF has started to catch on and it has the entourage very ex- cited. The Belicose Group, consists of Keith and Halina Crawford, Del Almei- da, Ron Walker , Rick Hilliard, Cathy Renshaw and Stephen Oliver, all of Central Huron Secondary School, as well as South Huron District High School Principal Joe Wooden. The crew has just returned from the five day Toronto Toy and Decorating Fair where they demonstrated their prod- uct amongst some 200 others. "The response we got was overwhelming," said co -inventor Keith Craw: ford. "It really helped to reinforce what we had hoped about our product." The group made a lot of contacts and Crawford said the toughest part is now weeding out the sincere interests from those individuals who simply want to take them for a ride. According to Halina Crawford, many offers were rejected because the corporation wanted to manufacture the game in Taiwan. , "We want the game to be produced in Canada," said Crawford. "It would make us feel that much better if some day we could say we put some people to work." Consequently, the group has decided to remain on its own, handling the. marketing, themselves. Various members of the military were also impressed with the product while local support has been super.:Over the past two weeks the company has put together about 300 games and sold them all According to Crawford, the group has a lot more work ahead of them which seems to be taking most of their free time. The group is currently attempting to put together a television commercial, and their immediate future consists of sending a representative to the New York game show. "One thing the Toronto show taught me was that the market is much more broad than we expected," said Crawford. "When we started the en- deavor, I thought we had only a specific target market." The American market is starting to look very viable for WARBUFF, and its inventors have received nothing but positive feedback from their competition. Veterans groups are raving about it and even the people from Trivial Pursuit have taken interest. "You never know," laughed Crawford. "Maybe somewhere down the road we'll be able to relax."
