Shirley Platt, chairman, conduct-
ed the business meeting. 'There are
136 Guild members for 1992, and
most of them work actively in sup-
porting the Playhouse. Project
Chairman Shirley McIntyre an-
nounced that a kitchen is now avail-
able for Guild catering, to be locat-
ed in the same filrmhouse where the
new Guild gift shop-- opened last
summer. The most immediate need
is a . refrigerator, but members are
asked to spring clean early for plas-
tic bowls, platters, knives, cueing
boards, electric kettles and coffee
pots, anything useful in such a
kitchen.
The fourth annual Art Show and
Sale will be held in the Council
Chambers on February 15,16 dur-
ing the Winter Carnival. At least
four local artists will be featured,
plus artists from other con munities
asking for space to participate this
year. There will be a special draw
on a Barbie Doli with an extensive
wardrobe, all handcrafted by Guild
members, for the Barbie Doll anni-
versary. The winner will be drawn
on Sunday, February 16.
The gold medal eight -dog sled
winner from Massachusetts is go-
ing to compete with her team in the

Dog Derby at the Pinery Paaark
nd the four -dog sled gold nidl-
list is also coming. Teams will be
entering the competition from
Northern Ontario, Pennsylvania,
Ohio, New York and Michigan,
promising to make it a great event,
not to be missed.
Snow Sculpting is still the major
event, and the President of the
World Association of Snow Sculpt-
ing will be attending as a judge.
The lnnenational Award Winning
Team from Mexico and a champion
team from England will also be at-
tending the events, as well as the
U.S. national winners and the
Michigan state champions. On Sun-
day, last year's winning team from
1991 Winter Cw ival, Vicki Rog-
ers team from Sarnia, left for .Mil-
waukee for the World Class Com-
petition. Another team will
compete in the Michigan State
events held in Frankenmuth.
Dave Sheppard has completed his
four year course and is now a Cati-
feed Festival Executive, one of only
three Canadians so designated. He
is now qualified to give 'minter
on organizing majorairs and com-
munity events. GrOid..Ber i . has

the Carnival continues to grow. in

Local councils of the Catholic
Women's League ore preparing to
attend their annual Fun Night, to be
held at the Sakford Valley Hall in
Gedenich on Wednesday, February
12. The evening begins with a pot

this year by Goder ch St. Peter's,
Luc snow; St. Augustine, Clinton

was to be hold an Friday January
24, from 4 to 6 p.m., but had to be
cancelled due to the stormy weath-
er, and will be re -scheduled.
About 25 children have regis-
terigl.ao far. The rest are scheduled
for Saturday, February 1 and 8
from 9 to 11 a.m. and Saturday,
Febfuary 15 from 9 to 10 a.m. This
is open to all Beavers, Cubs,
Scouts, Brownies, Guides and
Pathfinders who regularly attend
church. .
Badges will be awarded at the
special church service on Sunday,
February 16, held to commemorate
Lord Baden-Powell Week, founder
of the Scouting Movement. The an-
nual Scout banquet will take place
on Wednesday February 19 at the
Grand Bend Legion Hall.
Last Monday, 18 members of the
First Grand Bend Brownies visited
the Pinery Police Station for a com-
plete tour of the facility. They par-
ticularly enjoyed the police car, but
a few were disappointed not to see
a real "jail hell". A big thank you
to Constable Don Frazier- for his
hospitality.
