Lucan resident brings her
call for restraint to council
1 CAN - Lillian Radcliffe was
visa +r to the January 7 meeting of
Luc:m village council, and urged
councillors to use extreme restraint
in suing the 1992 budget.
A resident of Lucan for more
th . ?t t years, she said. "1 heard

rar this morning regarding our
economy and cutbacks proposed by
ott!::r levels of government
S h• questioned the advisability of
ha\tf:, two council meetings a
niontfi and said she felt this was un-
necessary if proper parliamentary
procedure was used.
It:, yc 'McLaughlin answered

Clerk kon kevmer explained that
95 percent of business with courser
service was incoming and was not
an expense to the village. He said
most of the courier communica-
tion:: came tmm engineers and goy -
ernmental departments
She was also concerned with the
cot- of the annual village christmas
party and thought if it was held in
1992, expenses should not be borne
by the taxpayer
Rec. e McLaughlin said the 199
event was less costly as in other
ycat, because it was 3 combined

Lions for the party were received in
1991 to keep overall expenses
down
McLaughlin assurers Radcliffe
that council would scrutinize the
1992 budget very carefully. He
continued. "We recognize there is
hardship out there."
Clerk Reymer explained that
there was absolutely no increase in
the tax levy, for village of Loran
purposes in 1991. The higher taxes
resulted from increased levies froth
the county of Middlesex and the
two Middlesex school boards.
In closing the discussion, reeve
McLaughlin made it clear that aro
residents of the village are wet --
come to attend council meetings
They are held the first and third
Tuesdays of each month at 7:30
