Seniors played well despite the
loss. They had trouble blocking the
strong Central hitters. Stacey Rader
spiked well and with power. She
was able to do so because of some
nice sets from Stacie Spicer and
Sharon Debruyn. Heather Steckle
was also impressive with her spirit-
ed play.

Senior Boys Basketball
.On Saturday, January 11 the sen-
ior boys travelled to Mitchell to
compete in a tournament held there.
In their first game the Panthers met
up with a closely matched Norwell
squad, losing by.a slim score of 44-
37. Mark Lynn led the team, shoot-
ing for 10. The next game saw the
Panthers up against a strong Elmira
team. Again, the Panthers came up
short, getting defeated by a score of
68-48. Ly.nn was high scorcr again,
netting 14 points.
. Midget Girls Volleyball
O hursday, the Midget girls
volleyball am hosted Stratford
Central for three games. Central
proved to be trouble with their
strong hitting and_swrving. The Pan-
thers were not playing quite up to
potential, losing 11-15, 8-15, acid 2-
15. Jana Webster played strong
games for the team. More work on
hitting and blocking in the coming
weeks should prove beneficial.
Exeter UCW first meeting
EXETER - New unit leader
Grace Drummond opened the Janu-
ary meeting of the Exeter evening
UCW with a poem "A New Year,
A New Day, A New Beginning".
Following this she conducted a
short business meeting reminding
everyone of the Presbyterial meet-
ing in Goderich on 20 and
tie General UCW meeting on Janu-
ary 27:
Program leader Mary Fisher
opened the worship with a reading
"Good, good Time." and Eleanor
Clark followed with a essay on
New Year Resolutions. Gerry Bor-
nath favoufed with two solos and
Audrey McDonald and Bea Bow-
man offered prayers. Marjorie
Tuckey read Psalm 90, verses 10-
17.
Fisher then introduced Dorothy
Chapman who is a certified grapho-
analyst. She explained how we dot
our is and cross our is tells a lot
about our personalities. After ana-
lyzing some of the members' hand-
writing Fisher presented Chapman
with a gift.
A delicious hot lunch was served
by Laurie Shapton's group bringing
the meeting to a close.
Speaker at Caven
EXETER - Caven Presbyterian
. Church has announced the Rev. Dr.
John Cameron, Moderator of the
General Assembly of the -Presbyter-
ian Church in Canada, will visit Ex-
eter on Sunday, January 26. As part
'of his tour of south-western Ontario
Dr. Cameron will preach at the
11:00 a.m. service at Caven
Church, 68 Main Street South, Ex-
eter.

H ENSALL - Hensall Branch 468
started the year off with\ a bang.
Last Wednesday. Branch 468 held
its general meeting with the news
that in the past six months they
have donated $3,402.21 and keep-
ing in step they donated 5506:00 to
the Hensel) Figure Skating Club.
-Theimembers agreed to have im-
provements made to the barrand to
have safety bars installed in thc
washrooms for the handicapped.
February 7 Zond C-1 Fraternal
members will be holding a.euchr
tournament at Branch 468 Hensel ,
s and on February 18 will' hold Pub-
lic Speaking.
There will be a Zone C-1 Con-
vention held at the Hensel) Arena
March 8 at.2,p.m.

P.E.I. Prior to that he served in
Nova Scotia for 16 years.
In accepting the office of Moder-
ator in Jun of 1991, Dr. Cameron
noted his appreciation of "the
words of encouragement which
have been expressed in a variety of
ways, especially the assurance of
prayer support."
During his one year term of of-
fice Dr. Cameron has travelled
overseas to review the missionary
and development work the Presby-
terian Church in Canada docs with
partner churches •in Africa and
South America. He has also trav-
elled extensively across Canada
participating in worship services
and congregational events of all
kinds.
The pastor of Caven Church,
Rev. Mark . B. Gaskin, says he
hopes "members and friends of the
church will use this opportunity to
meet and learn from a very knowl-
edgeable and experienced pastor."
A time of fellowship will follow
