Huron cancer society wins top award LONDON - The Huron County Cancer Society was recognized in 1991 for its successful fund raising efforts. Huron's fund raising chairperson, Joan Middleton and treasurer George Michie, both of Wingham, attended the southwestern district annual meeting in London . and were recognized for their outstand- ing campaign efforts in achieving the highest increase in donations for 1991. Mrs. Middleton estimated .the in- crease. at over 516,000. The 1990 objective was set at 5130,000 and in 1991 totals came in at 5154,600 from branch offices in Clinton, Ex- eter, Goderich, Seaforth and Wing - ham . Mrs. Middleton said the dona- tions were amazing considering the economic difficulties and Huron's small population base. In her annual report, Mrs. Mid- dleton noted, "The recession and GST Impact seems to have.affected everyone, but still the residents of Huron County reaffirm their com- mitment and dedication to the Can- ' cer Society." Plans are already in the works to conduct the 1992 campaign. April * is Cancer Month and fund raising volunteers in Huron Comitywill work to meet the year's campaign objective of 5180,000. "Without the Cancer Society vol- unteers, all of this wouldn't be pos- sible," she said. • 11 • litiaVinlen:30ftliegraanglif100111astimmaithai040041110111MPree***110111t,ti-WitaitakftioP's-DeorgeRobertaon lnisatittiffirsdisplay .
