Township stated that the site may have been leaking and would re-

•The Exandrea Meadows housing project was officially opened.
The project contained 35 co-op appartment and townhouse complex-
es.
.Bell Canada offices in Stratford announced that Exeter and Credi-
ton would be eligible for toll-free sevice to London by the year 1994.
Both Crediton and Exeter met new CRTC Criteria that they are within
60 kilometres of London, and more than 60 percent call London at
least once a month.
•Justice of the Peace, Doug Wedlake retired after 23 years of ser -
vide in the local Exeter court.

•South Huron High School cancelled a planned Hallowe'en dance
after concerns were raised by town police against increased violence.
Although rumors stated that it was due to a. bomb< threat, vice-
principal Keith Allen stated that the school had received no such
threat prior to the cancellation. -
-The Ontario Development Corporation in Fibron Park started seek-
ing financial support to turn Huron Park into a major aircraft repair
centre. The ODC recently brought in Clearwater Aircraft Maintai-
nance and Overhaul lnc.,which will be opening a 5,580 sq. metre
painting facillity in one of the existing hangars. .
•The disposal of tires in the Grand Bend region was looked at seri-
osly by the village's Waste Management Committee. Council had
been informed that a private company would haul and store Lives for
recycling at a cost of $1.65 per tire.
• •The Exeter store of Moffat and Powell Lumber revealed that after
nearly 10 years in service, it would be closing. The poor economic
outlook for the area was cited as reason for the closure.

•Regulations imposed by the Ministry of the environment required
Exeter to install a $12,000 muffler on a new' sewage pumping station.
The pump which requires the muffler was ontytobc used in emcrgen-
cies, as a backup.
•Huron County Gouncil debated io purchase American or Canadian
made bricks for the new Huronview construction job in Clinton e
Canadian bricks would add,a-cost of $46,000 to the project.

•The Huron County chapter of Child Find spo an annual Kid
Check program, which makes an identification kit for parents to keep
at home to be presented to police in the event of an emergency. 160
children were registered at this year's clinic.
•The Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority found and was
forced t< dean up the remains of three hog carcasses which were
dumped i..,gally into a creek near Zurich.

• The culprits that dumped multiple animal carcasses into.a creek near
Zurich tuned themselves in. On a positive note, the ABCA stated that
the Carcasses were not diseased. - -
•The new Exeter council rejected --two motions that would have to-
talled the purchase price of a new Ferrari; the first for a new town gar-
bage truck and the sceond for another police cruiser.
•The Exeter United Church joined with other Ontario congregations
to aid Mennonite families returning to Frogmore after a 50 -year ah-
sencc. -
•Exeter PUC planned a 10 percent increase in the flat rate for water
usage, looking ahead to the eventual cost that the service expansion
will bnng in the upcoming years.
•The Exeter and Area Heritage Foundation invested the required extra
:money to restore the Town Hall to its original appearance with a cc-
dar shake roof.
December 11, 1991
• South Huron District High School students raised $805 for the
Unrisunas Bureau during their annual "Trampoline -a -thou."
•Hensall Council voted against a request from the Township of Ste-
phen to accept waste from them. The current volume of waste going
to the Stephen landfill site is 13,500 cubic metres per year.
•Exeter town policc.arrested a young offender on charges of break and
enter after being called to an Andrew Street address. The youth was
later found, inside the Nrothlander Industries building on Thames
Road East.
December 18, 1991
• Bob Fisher of Zurich was presented the County Warden's Key after
being elected by county council representatives of Huron municipali-
ties.
• Royal Bank representatives revealed their plans for the construction
of a new branch in Exeter on the former Fire Hall property purchased
at the corner of Victoria and Main Streets.
•Stephen Township continued to request expansion of its Concession
-14 landfill site, as it nears projected capacity.
