Dick Kloss achieved hiS dreamt f swimming across Lake Hu-
ron. Kloss battled rough water 8nd,urlfavourable currents to
cross from Pbrt Sanilacl Michigankr-several hours longer than
expected.
In larch, 'Lucan's heritage was in the spotlight as a series of
tours swung through the area to give visitors a first-hand look
at the ,etting for one of Canada's most famous mass mur
ders: the Donnelly massacre. Here guide Bill Ryder explains

In August the hardball diamond at the Exeter Recreation Cen-
tre was o icislly named the Alvin Willert Field in honour of one

In May, South Huron District High School
presented its annual school show with the.
musical "Fame" and promptly sold out

In February, the Grand Bend Winter Camival got its wish and literally scraped together gnough
snow to be able to hold its dog sled competition. The event in previous years had to be can-
celled due to a lack of the white stuff.
In May, the landfill site shared by-Biddulph Township and the Village of Lucan .was -closed by
