The Christmas The
Elves Got Sick
Leanne Pergel
Exeter P.S.
One snowy day in the North Pole
Santa and his elves were working
in the toy shop. Santa was reading
off the Christmas list to the elves,
"Barbie, toy train, bouncing ball"
he said in his cheerful voice.
When they were busy making
toys one little elf named Holly was
starting to catch a cold from being
outside too long. Mrs. Claus didn't
notice until Holly went to go to
bed.
The next day Holly was sick in
bed and two more elves caught the
cold. Santa felt sad. He just thought
he would get his work done even
before Christmas until he heard that
three elves were sick.
Santa put an ad in the paper for
help so he could get his work done
but he didn't have much luck get-
ting help. By the first week of De-
cember there were only five elves
working. Santa was very upset. He
knew he would never get all his
work done. He didn't want to let the
children down but he couldn't make
the elves get better.
The next week came. Santa was
happy new elves were coming and
the elves that were sick were all
better.
When Christmas Eve came, the
toys were all made and all the elves
went outside to see Santa off on
Christmas Eve.

Christmas is a time of giving a little
extra.
hearing bells miles from church.
Running to midnight mass every
year.
Ignorant people ignoring the poor.
Sending gifts to aunts and uncles.
Tending the tree that's filling with
presents.
Messing up Mom's room trying to
find out what I'm getting.
Asking Mom when
Santa is coming to our house.
