Vesper service a success
CREDITON - The first Vesper
service for the newly organized
C.G.I.T. group at Crediton United
Church was held Sunday night and
was very successful.
Under the direction of Georgina
Grotentraast, the girls presented
poems, songs and skits along with
group singing.
Participating were Kerry Brown-
lee, April Smale, Lisa Clarke, Mary
• Ann Grotentraast, Miranda Hayter,
Christine Pertschy and Sarah Gro -
ten traas t.
A congregational meeting was
held after Sunday morning's regular
service when the 1992 budget in
the amount of $61,885 was ap-
proved. This is an increase of near-
ly seven percent over this year.
Anyone wishing to participate in
the annual carol singing should be
at the church, Monday night, De-
cember 23 at 7.30 p.m.
A Christmas Eve Communion
service is set for next Tuesday
night at 7.30 p.m. Loose offering
will go to the Mission and Service
fund.
An Open House will be held on
Saturday, December 28 to help cel-
ebrate Emerson Wein's 95th birth-
day. The special event will be held
at Mr. Wein's home on Main street
in Crediton between 2 and 4 p.m.

SI-IPKA - Congratulations to
Virginia and Ervin Pfaff, who re-
cently were blessed with a new
baby.
Several ladies from this area at-
tended the Christmas Ecumenical
at Dashwood United Church last
Tuesday evening. Ladies participat-
ing in the service came from the
Grand Bend Churches of Immacu-
late Heart of Mary Catholic, St.
John Anglican, Grand Bend Unit-
ed, Church of God, and Greenway
United.
Harold and Doreen Finkbeiner,
enjoyed the bus trip, Saturday to
the Festival of Lights, at Niagara
along with Seniors from Grand
Bend, Dashwood and Crediton.
Don and Elizabeth Adams, host—
ed
osted a pre Christmas dinner, Satur-
day night for the Adams family.
Attending were Marjorie Adams,
Harvey, Alanna, and Lesley Adams
and family, all of Exteer, Ruthie
Martin, Toronto, Brock, Dianne,
Andrew Colin and Dean Adams,
London and Clark Adams of Strat-
ford.
Hugh and Annie Morenz and
their son Bill of London, attended
the Coleman Christmas, Annie's
side of the family, Sunday, at the
home of John Carol and Elisha
Coleman at Kippcn. Others attend-
ing were Art and Mary Finlayson,
Seaford', Donald Jackson, Hensall,
Bill and Norma Coleman, Les, Jane
and Suzanne Coleman, all of Kip -
pen. They enjoyed a noon dinner,
visit, gift exchange and games.

Legion branch Christmas party

EXETER - The R.C. Pooley
Branch has been active in the past
two weeks and will be even more
so in the next two-week period.
The children's Christmas party
was held on December 8, with 85
children in attendance. They were
entertained by clowns, who painted
faces and made balloons into differ-
ent shapes, games and of course a
visit by Santa Claus. Santa present-
ed each child with a gift and a grab
bag of fruit.
The Branch hosted an "Apprecia-
tion Banquet" for the Ladies Auxil-
iary members on December 16
which coincided with their general
meeting.
The Exeter Legion is holding a
New Year's Eve Dance on Decem-
ber 31 and it is open to the commu-
nity. Tickets are available by call-
ing the Branch at 235-2962. $25.
per couple including a hot buffet.
Meat draws
The weekly meat draws have
been very successful and the pro-
ceeds of this event are going to-
wards the purchase of a new T.V.
for the Tommy Tap Room. The
number of draws has been in-
creased from four to five, plus a
complimentary draw of the losing
tickets. This Saturday, December
21 there will be a special turkey
