Elementary schools hold Christmas
concerts this evening in Zurich

ZURICH - Grades seven and
eight students at St. Boniface
school will present their operetta,
A Christmas Carol at 1:15 p.m. this
afternoon (Wednesday) and again
at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $3.
The students at Zurich Public
will also be putting on their annual
Christmas concert tonight at 7:30.
Santa en route
Kids don't forget, Santa Claus
will be at the Zurich arena on Sat-
urday, December 21 beginning at 2
p.m. The Lions club will be show-
ing films and have chocolate milk
and treats.
New Year's dance
Be sure to get your tickets for the
New Year's dance to be held De-
cember 31 at the Zurich arena.
Doors open at 8:30 p.m. with danc-
ing from 10-2 a.m. featuring Night
Wind.
Cost is $15 per person which in-
cludes hot and cold buffet and par-
ty novelties. Phone Kevin McDin-

store for tickets.

stamps as the missions can make
use of them afterwards.
Church brunch
An appreciation brunch for those
who assist with various jobs
throughout the year at St. Boniface
along with Father Peter Hayes was
held last Sunday in Zurich.
Sarnia lights
A large number enjoyed a bus
trip Sunday to see the Celebration
of Lights display in Sarnia. Travel-
lers spent time in Centennial Park
and participated in a number of ac-
tivities planned by driver Doug
Erb.
Youth group
The St. Boniface Youth Group
got together for a Christmas pot-
luck supper at the home of Char-
lene Regier on Sunday along with
leaders John and Denise McCarroll;
and Marg Gingerich.
Commerce dinner
The Chamber of Commerce held
their Christmas dinner and meeting
on Tuesday along with guests at
Hessenland Country inn.
Golden agers
Twenty-six Golden Agers en-
joyed a Christmas dinner Monday
at the Town and Country Bowling
Lanes. Business was conducted by
f
president Marie Gelinas.
Annie Finkbeiner and Ina Neeb
each gave a Christmas reading. A
moment of silence was observed
for honourary member Myrtle
Deitz who passed away recently.
Ina Neeb conducted card and bin-
go games as well as the singing of
Christmas carols. The next meet-
ing will be Monday at 2 p.m. on
January 13.
Senior diners
Forty-seven Senior Diners attend-
ed dinner last Wednesday. Theresa
McCann of Mt. Carmel treated eve-
ryone to piano music and Tammy
Antaya reminded all members of
tonight's dinner (Wednesday)
which will feature special guests.
Antaya gave a poem "Dear Santa
Claus" as did Gertie Fleischauer,
Beautiful Christmas Poinsettia".
Carols were sung with Theresa
McCann accompanying on the pia-
no. The next dinner will be
Wednesday. January 8.
Bowling
The Pin Poppers bowling team
held a Christmas dinner last
Wednesday at Oakwood Inn in
Grand Bend.
Garbage pick-up
Please note the change in the
Christmas schedule for garbage
pick-up over the next two week-
ends. Garbage will be picked up on
Friday, December 27 and Friday,
January 3 instead of the usual
Wednesdays.
Personals
The family of Percy and Marie
Bedard got together for their annual
Christmas fun day at the Zurich
Arena Sunday with over 100 peo-
ple attending.
Music was supplied by Serious
Business and Santa Claus was on
hand to treat all the kids with bags
of candy.
The family of Arnold Meurer
held their Christmas dinner on Sun-
day at his home.
Our sincere sympathy is ex-
pressed to the family of Evelyn
Schroeder who passed away Fri-
day.
Sympathy is also express to the
family of Myrtle Deitz who passed
away last Sunday.
Birthday greetings are extended
to Bernadette Denomme, Chris
Dawe and twins Joey and Gerry
Groot.

Richard and Brenda Schilbe
spent a few days in Las Vegas re-
cently.
Cecil and Ross Uttley were visi-
tors to the Zurich area Thursday.
Welcome to town Madeline and
Stewart Sheppard and two sons
who have moved into the apartment
at Harold Smith's. The family is
from the Hamilton area. Also,
welcome to Dennis and Sandy Jef-
frey who have moved into the for-
mer home of Randy Geoffrey.
