By Joan Beierling
VARNA - The Varna -Goshen
Combined Church Service held at
the Complex last Sunday was well
attended by parishioners from both
churches.
The lighting of the Third Advent
Candle of Joy was lit by Don and
Deb Rathwell and boys.
The combined Varna -Goshen
Choir sang "There's A Voice in the
Wilderness Crying". Rev. George
Phillips sermon was based on "The
Gifts of Christmas".
Following the church service a
pot luck lunch was served..
Joe Laurie, Varna Sunday School
Superintendent welcomed everyone
and Darcy Rathwell opened the
concert with a warm welcome fol-
lowed by Caroline Van Slighen-

The Varna Sunday School acted
out the Christmas Pageant in song.

Joyce Dowson, along with mother
Bonnie acted out the song Candy
Canes.
Varna -Goshen Nursery kids stole
the show with their song "Snow-

skit "A Christmas Dream" followed
by Danny Rathwell with a Melody
of Christmas Carols played on the

Best Christmas".
Three Goshen girls MaryAnne
Hayter, Leanne Keys and Julie Fin-
lay sang "When Lights are Lit for
Christmas". Erin Keys closed with
a Christmas Prayer.
Joe Laurie thanked everyone for
their talented gifts performed and
asked all of the children to come up
to the front for Christmas songs and
last of all "Here Comes Santa" was
sung and Santa really did come to
distribute gifts and pictures were
taken.
Our deepest sympathy, love and
prayers goes out to George and
Olive Phillips on the passing of
Olive's brother. Flowers were
placed at the church service in
memory of him by George and
Olive.
