Granton donates non-perishable food items
GRANTON - At the St. Thomas'
Anglican Church on Sunday the
Rev. Stephen Emery's message was
about Repentance and Sanctifica-
tion. Scott Hodgins assisted in
reading the lessons.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday the Sunday School took
charge of the White Gift Service
with the theme Gifts of Love. Mar-
garet Cope and Susan Bryan took
part in lighting the Advent Candle
and Cindy Bilyea sang 'The Lord
is My Shepherd".
Flowers in the church were in
memory of Mrs. Morley Wass who
passed away ten years ago, given
by her daughter Marian Rowe of
London.
The Optimist Club gave their do-
nation of non-perishable food items
to be included with the gifts from
the church for the Salvation Army
in St. Marys.

Unit one met at Dianne Blake's
home on Thursday afternoon, after
singing "Joy to the World" the
president Doreen McRobert gave
lesson thoughts on the theme
"Christams help wanted", based on
Jeremiah 29 (1 to 7), closing with
prayer.
The roll call was answered with
stories and poems, interspersed
with carols. Business included dis-
cussion on the U.C.W. Christmas
Meeting also the next meeting
which will be held one week later,
January 9.
'Unit two members enjoyed a
skating party in Lucan on Sunday
in place of a regular meeting.
Unit three members had lunch at
noon on Tuesday, at the Field
Mouse and did some Christmas
shopping.
Unit five met for a pot luck din-
ner at Ina Harlton's home in St.
Marys on Friday.
The president Margaret Spence
opened the program with a Christ-
mas poem and the Bible reading
from Luke 2 (1 to 20). 'Hark the
Herald Angel's was sun and Mary
Wallis read a Christmas Alphabet
and rwas the Night Before Christ-
mas diet season.
Florence Bryan read "Waiting"
and Mary Jones had a reading

Granton Women's Institute mem-
bers dined at the, Heywood Country
Restaurant near Centralia on Friday
evening. After dinner, Muriel Lew-
is ,opened the meeting and led the
regular business period. The roll
call was then answered with some-
thing for the program. The Stork of
Christmas was read by Muriel Lew-
is and a Christmas Eve Fantasy by
Florence McRobert.
Olive Hodgins told about the
Legend of the Lamb and Elsie
Dann came up with some Christ-
mas Magic. Margaret Oakley read
about Christmas around the world,
followed with "Country Christmas"
by Alma Nicholson and "Fust I re-
moved my glasses" by Florence
Riddell.
Greetings and courtesies conclud-
ed the pleasant gathering.
