HENSALL - The meeting on No- vember 13 was well atended at the Hensall Branch 468. A special thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary for their donation of $500. Donations were also given to the charitable foundations and bursary, Huron Day Centre and Share the Vision from the Legion. Thanks to the entertainment for another "good ole Pub Night Sing a Long" on Saturday, November 16. Legion and Auxiliary members went to Parkwood Hospital on the bus to the Zone Cl Variety Show. The veterans really enjoyed it and thanks to all Legions that partici- pated. Legion hats and treats were given to the veterans. 35 years for Grand Bend CWS By Roberta Walker GRAND BEND - The Immacu- late Heart of Mary Council of the Catholic Women's League in Grand Bend celebrated its 35th anniver- sary at its November 12 meeting. The meeting was chaired by pres- ident Cathy Vrogle. First -vice president Grada Vlemmix read the roll call and stated how many years each member had been with the Grand Bend Council. Charter members who had been there when the council was formed on November 25 1956 were given special notice and the list of presi- dents and of deceased 'members was read. The original charter was re- framed and will eventually hang in the new parish hall which has yet to be built. In the business, December 8 is Pro -Life Day and the CWL will take part in a special mass at 11 a.m. and Pro -Life literature and Christmas cards will be available at alt masses that weekend. The CWL has decided all money raised by the cash register tape col- lection this year will go to buy food for needy families in the communi- ty this Christmas. The collection of food, toys and gifts, White Gift Sunday, has been designated as December 14-15. All members of the parish will be asked to bring something to the weekend masses and the children will carry the gifts to the altar to share Christmas with the poor. The Lioness collect the donations for their annual Christmas baskets for the entire community. A list of Christmas baskets and gifts to sick and shut-ins of the parish was orga- nized and Toni Vandenberk will look after these gifts. There were eight tables in play. Another euchre will be held De- cember 4. Personals Lorne Fenner, accompanied by his son Jim of Camlachie and other hunting friends, have returned from their annual hunting trip in the area of Englehart. The group bagged two moose, and are now enjoying moose roasts. Birthday wishes are extended to Oscar and Laura Miller. Community congratulations to Ken Jr. and Carol Baker, for their 25th wedding anniversary which they celebrated last week at Ken Sr.'s home with family members. They were down this way to attend the graduation of their son Kevin Burt, as an electrical engineer from the University of Waterloo. As well as visiting us, they visited their uncle, Ed Turnbull, who was in South Hu- ron hospital at that time. Ed is now a resident at the Blue Water Rest Home. Exeter Legion EXETER - The Exeter Legion's Meat Draw winners for November 23 were: First, Marion Averill; Sec- ond, Larry Howell; Third, Gerald Cornish; Fourth, Mr. Tackaberry (Goderich branch); Fifth, Dennis Bierling. The mystery prize winner was Marion Averill. December 4 marks Father Paul Beck's 15th anniversary as a priest, and December 13 is his birthday. The Christmas Party will be held on Monday, December 9 with the husbands invited. There will be carols, fun, and a birthday party for Father Beck. After the meeting, several craft items made by member were on sale as Christmas decorations. A huge 35th anniversary cake, made by ARC Bakeshop was served to all the members to celci ate the special occasion. Historian Ria Tadgell took photos of all the past presidents . and charter members present for the scrapbook and histo- ry istory of the Grand Bend Council. Catholic news Gregory David Snopko, infant son of David Snopko and Mary Jo- hanna Schottroff, was baptized on Saturday. Steven Ducharme was confirmed last week at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
