Dashwood
4-H Club
By Kerrl Hartman
DASHWOOD - The Dashwood
4-H club held their third meeting
November 4, at Karen Kinsman's
house. Roll call was taken with
everyone present.
The Dashwood 4-H Milk Musk -1
ateers may not be good dancers and
athletes but they are good cookers.
They've proved that! So far in the
three meetings they've had every-
one like at least two of the things
they sampled.
At this meeting they sampled+
"Lemon Raspberry mini cheese-
cakes". Some thought of it to be
quite tasty and others thought the
opposite.
They then discussed different
cheeses made in Canada. They also
found out cheddar cheese is the
most popular. They then talked
about different types of cheese
what calories and calcium is in
thein and what they are used for.
--- Fourth ttlia'ed1ng
The club's fourth meeting was
held November 11, 1991 at Karen
Kinsman's house. roll call was tak-
en and eight members were present.
Kim Palsa and Kerri Hartman
made Fruit Smoothie for their
group. Most thought it was the best
recipe yet.
The club is planning their
achievement program for Decem-
ber 9, when they will visit a dairy
farm, and make a video. They will
also be able to take it home later to
watch.
The members also discussed
what food made with milk that is
used at least once a week. They had
a lot of different answers and the
most common ones were cereal and
cheese. The club then sampled
many different kinds of cheese, in-
cluding mild, dutch, gouda, old
cheddar, monteray jack, medium
(glair; brick.. Canadian Swiss,
fly .ti!!1►1 !?oilk cheek: ti
le and Erie.
The group's next meeting will be
held November 25, with Donna
King and Michelle Kinsman mak-
ing homemade ice cream for the
club to sample.
EXETER - if you third( you've sept

something different she thinks youll
like.
More than 30 exhibitor of Exeter
area arts and crafts will be displaying
their talents on Saturday and Sunday at
the South Huron Recreation Centre.
" Irene s a lot of talent in our area and
1 don't think people realize how many
artists there pre," said Bervoets, who is
organizing the show along with her
husband Jos from Four Seasons Jewel -
levy. --
Although reluctant to bill the show as
an upscale exhibit, Bervoets says visi-
tors can expect to see original fine at
paintings, limited edition prints, wood-
crafts, victorian lace, glass etching,
dried flowers, jewellery and more.
There will be a full range of items,
evaything from paintings costing hun-
dreds of dollars to loaves of handmade
bread.
Bervoets says the emphasis of the
show is more on the promotion of local
artisans rather than outright sales.
'They would like to sell, of course.
Everyone likes to sell," she said.
Many of the exhibitors will be dan-
onstrating their talents in their booths as
well.
The artists mostly come from Exeter,
St. Marys, and the Grand Bend areas.
As an example of the variety of the
exhibits on display, Helen Hughes will
have samples of her Victorian hat box-
es, Patty Hasen will have her plum pud-
dings, and Virginia Henderson will be
showing her painted miniature art
that is won u jewellery.
Tho Ausable Bayfield Conserva-
tion Foundation will also be showing
and selling the Tammy Laye limited
edition pints of Exeter's White Won-
der, a fundraising project for local
Hive trails.
Admission to the show is $2. Sat-
urday the doors will be open from
9:30-6 p.m. and from 10-5 p.m. on
Sunday.
