The crib quilt was won by Ge- raldine Eckel. Winners of the S1,000 Thursday bingo were Louis Willett and Norm Bridle. A Christmas craft show and sale is to be held November 1.3 and 14 from 10 a.m. to .10 p.m. at the Dashwood community centre. All are invited. Harvest Dance The St. Boniface Knights of Co- lumbus are sponsoring a harvest dance at the Zurich community centre Saturday November 16 from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Tickets are sold at the door for $6.00 each which in- cludes lunch. Music will be provid- ed by "Serious Business". A joint birthday party / dinner was held at the residence of Herb and Donna Klopp on November 10, Zurich by Carmel Sweeney for family members Heidi Klopp, Andrew Earle and Martha Straus. An information meeting to take the place of the deanery meeting will -.be held at the Zurich public Whoa Vaeaday ,..November 19, commencing at 8:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Personals Congratulations to Norm and Su- san Eckel on the arrival of their baby boy Jordan Donald, born Oc- tober 26. Happy birthday to Joey Rader, who turned six November 10. The Brownies will be holding an enrollment night at St. Boniface school at 7:15 p.m. The regular Brownies meeting will be held at usual time of 6:45 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce will be having their next dinner meeting November 19 at the Bayview Tour- ist Tavern on the Bluewater High- way. Donations needed There is an immediate need for any bedding materials, including sheets, pillowcases, blankets, pil- lows, and towels. The St. Boniface Knights of Co- lumbus council welcome five new members to the ranks: Jerry Groot, Joseph Groot, Hank Hendricks, Ge- rald Neilands and Gordon Smith. Members Ronald Overholt and Ter ry Bedard have also transferred to the St. Boniface council. A recent canvassing for the Arthritis Foun- dation raised $800. Zurich Senior Diners ZURICH - A good attendance of 'diners met Wednesday, November -6. Tammy Antaya welcomed all diners, especially Tom and Elaine Tennant, Kingston. Laura Gascho won the 50/50 draw. Gertie Fleischauer gave a read- ing, "Why We Must Remember War". Speaker Lavonne Ballagh gave an interesting talk on buttons and also mentioned that all people (es- pecially seniors) • must be consid- ered useful, importanton ke irng.a positive attitude and keep involved. Progressive euchre was enjoyed with the winners: High - Cathy Clark, Second highest - Gertie Fleischauer, lone hands - Gwen McKeller, low - Harvey Rohner. The Zurich Senior Diners will be celebrating their second anniver- sary Wednesday, November 27 with special music. Stan Lee Club meets in Varna VARNA - The Stan Lee Club held their November 5 meeting at the Stanley Complex with 24 mem- bers and four guests in attendance. President Anna Keys opened the meeting_with_.a reading "The Q mation of Sam' McGee". When Anna and Bruce travelled to the far north, they found many of the tours put on shows of early days. A poem by Robert .Service was a part of a show they saw. Louise Hayter introd¢oed the guest speaker, Bev Brown. Bev is a Community Development Person for the Huron Health Unit. Their office in Clinton provides informa- tion for seniors and the disabled. She explained the many services available for seniors. The Ontario government is now in the process of making changes. They plan to have all community health services come under one ministry. Brown told them 34 per- cent of every tax dollar goes for health care. Another project being studied is a transportation system for the coun- try• Varna by Joan Beierling 1 .. Kcys thanked Brown and present- ed her with a fruit basket. Members were reminded that the Christmas meeting will be a dinner meeting at the White Carnation at Holmesville on December 3 at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Please call Anna Keys by November 26 if you plan to attend. Instead of a gift exchange every- one is asked to bring an item for the Family and Children's Service Bu- reau. Several rounds of euchre were played. Leona McBride, Jean McE- wan, Mervyn Hayter and Hugh McBride were prize winners. Remembrance Day Sunday, November 10 a short Re- membrance Day Service was held at the Cenotaph following the church service held in Varna. Fol- lowing the scripture reading by Reeve Howard Armstrong was the laying of the wreaths. The Legion wreath was laid by Earl Laycox, Township wreath by Howard Arm- strong and the Orange Lodge by Charles Reid. Youth group The Youth Group (grade nine and up) will meet at Kippen on Novem- ber 14 at 6 p.m. to go bowling in Zurich. After bowling they will re- turn to Kippen for the rest of their meeting. Cabaret Keep November 29 open for the Children's Christmas Cabaret to be held at the Stanley Township Com- plex. This is a family dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The admission is $10 a family and $5 a single. This includes hot dogs and ladies bring finger dessert and there is also go- ing to be a special guest from the North Pole. Personale Happy 50th Wedding Anniver- sary to Tom and Willa Rathwell. A surprise anniversary party was planned for them on Saturday at the Red Maple Inn in Vanastra with over 40 family members in atten- dance. r Past presidents of the glue Water Rest Home Auxiliary presented administrator Josef Risi with a cheque for $1,000 during Saturday's 25th anniversary rest home bazaar and bake sale. The money was raised at the October 5 anniversary dinner and dance and will go toward the building fund.
