Full funding for study on new ;system GRAND BEND - Representa- tives from the Ministry of the Envi- ronment brought good news to Grand Bend council last month. The village will receive 100 per- cent funding for a study on where and how to build a new sewage treatment plant. Grand Bend has had to put a hold on development in the last year be- cause of limited capacity in its ex- isting system. The lagoons used by Grand Bend are in Stephen Township and vil- lage reeve Bruce Woodley said the new plant may not go in Stephen Township. "It won't necessarily go where the existing lagoons are, they'll have to study it," said Woodley. Consulting engineers M.M. Dil- lon have been contracted to do the study but it could be as long as three years before the plant is built. "Once you get through the study process, and to the point where they agree to a location, then they have to go to the ministry for approval," said Woodley. He said the new system will re- ceive 80 percent funding from the government. Grand Bend has been trying to get their system expanded for a couple of years since there are de- velopers who do want to build in the village, but can't because of a shortage of services. When asked if boundary negotia- tions was a reason for the MOE's delay in announcing the approval of the study grant, Woodley said, "that was part of it but there were other reasons." "Bosanquet is not going to be part of this expansion," he added. Only more till Christina Drop in and lot through our e lee.,n of books 424 Main SOO*t'l 23S-1331 IT'S BACK IT'S BETTER $29.95JMo.
