tron of honour was Kelly
Simpson, Niagara Falls. The
best man was Peter Simp-
son, St. Catharines. Ushers
were tons of the bride, Ste-
ven Elder, London and Darren
Ballantyne, London. Scripture
reading by Kevin Ballantyne,
Toronto, son of the bride. Or-
ganist was Leanne Yonick,
St. Catharines, cousin of the
groom. Soloist was Betty Bax-
ter, St. Catharines, cousin of
the groom. After a reception
at Hensall Community Centre,
the couple now reside at RR4
Seaforth.

Grand Bend Beavers, Cubs and parents
participate In Boy Scout Apple Day

GRAND BEND - Boys and parents participated in
Boy Scout Apple Day at the Farmer's Market with 15
Beavers and 11 Cubs raising over $500. Family
members were invited to attend the investiture of the
New Chums on Tuesday.
The Grand Bend Legion has invited the Cubs,
Scouts, Beavers, Guides, Pathfinders, Sparks and
Brownies to participate in the Remembrance Day
Service being held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Church 11 a.m. Mass.

The sympathy of Grand Bend Legion Branch #498
is extended to the family of the late Comrade George
Crosbie, who passed away last Tuesday. The funeral
was last Tuesday. "Welcome home from the hospi-
tal" to Comrades Ed Scott and Doug Keeley.
Tuesday night darts for October 22: first place Nel-
lie Hedley and George Roberts, second place Joyce
Hutchinson and Mery Jacques. Rick Cross won the
50/50 draw and got the men's high score of 120.
Sharen Carter got the ladies high score with 109.
October 29 was the biggest turnout to date for
Tuesday night darts. First place was Jean Allison and
Bob Chapdelaine; second place was Pat Hoffman
and Jim O'Neil. The 50/50 draw was won by Sharen
Carter and Joyce Hutchinson won the ladies high
score with 140. Ken Hudson got men's high for a
score of 138.
Results of the Friday meat raffle of October 25: the
winners were Tony Gaudio, Dolly Abbott, Nell Gow,
Marion Shaw and Marg Hedley. Marie Hudson won
the mystery prize. The winners of the November 1
meat raffle were: ?Bob Chapdelaine, Rick Richard,
Bruce Eickmeier, Jack McIntyre and Celia Hughes.
The mystery prize winner was Jack McIntyre.
Don't forget the Remembrance Day services on
Sunday, November 10 at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Church, the 11 a.m. Mass, for all Legion members,
Scouts and Guides.
YIO Convention in Ottawa
Thirteen members of Youth Involvement Ontario
attended the annual convention held November 1 - 3
in Ottawa. This included three students with special
needs, all from South Huron District High School as
well as three teachers.
The students shared their experiences of suporting
teens with challenging needs, as friends, siblings and
self -advocates. They heard from guest speakers with
handicaps, and were even addressed by Erica M. of
Much Music who offered her support to YIO. There
were Videos, workshops, tours, the general meeting
and elections of a new executive. The South Western
YIO respresentative is a university student from
Kitchener.
About town
The first frost hit with a heavy fist, so if you have
have not got those prized plants out of your garden
it's too late now. The beautiful late blooming begon-
ias, asters and mums are all frozen stiff. The only
thing you can do now is to cleanup, rake leaves and
plant bulbs for next spring. If you need help cleaning
up your yard, why not call Fred Bates (238-8798) of
the Grand Bend Horticultural Society. Bates and his
staff will prune your shrubs and leave your gardens
all tucked in for winter.
Bagged leaves not over 401b. will be picked up at
the curbside in Grand Bend every Wednesday until
December 18. Don't bum those leaves, bag them.
Don't forget the annual Grand Bend Chamber of
Commerce meeting at the Coconut Bay restaurant on
November 19, Tuesday. Nominations are needed for
a new executive, so please try to attend.
The sympathy of the community is extended to
Helen Sturdevent and family for their loss of William
Sturdevent, husband, father, grandfather, who passed
away last week.
Alma Prance and family held a thanksgiving dinner
at her granddaughter Heather Maass' summer home
at the lake. The family honoured another grand-
daughter, Linda and John Campbell's 25th wedding
anniversary, with a surprise party.
Dr. Neil Shear, dermatologist, at Sunnybrook Hos-
pital, Toronto, was the guest speaker last week at the
annual dinner meeting of the Lambton Unit of the
Canadian Cancer Society. Volunteers from Grand
Bend who attended were Madelaine Dalton, Freda
Farrell, Angela Kuntz, and Lynne Desjardine. Angela
was the receiver of a special certificate and pin for
her years of service.
Their objective was met plus, which brought the to-
tal to $34,223.42 for North Lambton, and in memori-
am donations of $10,307.20. Volunteer drivers are al-
ways needed. Contact the unit if you can help.

Macgregor was in charge of the 24
Sunday after Pentecost church ser-
vice on Sunday morning. The sea-
sonal

At Elimville church Megan Eliza-
beth, daughter of Sharon and Bob
Pavkeje was baptized. Megan is the
granddaughter of Lyle and Joy
Docking and Joe and Mary Pav-
keje. The congregation sang the
children's hymn "Jesus Loves Me"
and Rev. Sheila gave the children's
message "Jesus Says". The choir
sang "Peace Sweet Peace" accom-
panied by the organist Agnes Bray.
Rev. Sheila read the scripture les-
son Mark 12: 38-44. Her sermon
was entitled "The Great Command-
ment".
After the service a time of fellow-
ship was hosted by Marilyn Rohde,
and Sharon Passmore and at Elim-
ville by Bev and Fred Dclbridge.

Adult Fellowship Evening for
Adults of all ages to meet Sunday,

ville Church. Guest speakers will
be Dave and Margaret McClure.
They will show slides and speak on
their year in New Zealand. Elim-
ville will provide sandwiches and
Thames Road dessert. Coffee and
tea provided.
On Wednesday, November 13,
2:30 and 3 p.m. Thames Road la-
dies are to assist at the Exeter Villa
Services.
Bible Study will be on Thursdays
from 2-3 p.m. at Exeter Villa.

Hallowe'en Party in her home on
Wednesday evening.
Sympathy is extended to Terry
and Judy Morgan and family and
Gerald and Helen Thompson fol-
lowing the death of Judy's grand-
mother and Helen's mother, the late
Jessie Lewis of Ailsa Craig.
Hallowe'en is past for another
year with ghosts and goblins trick
or treating. A party was held after
at the Community Centre. After a
hard decision on the part of the
judges Ron and Linda Holcombe,
prizes were awarded to: Best Hal-
lowe'en costume - Ken Tilley; Best

At the United Church on Sunday
a successful hot dog fund rattling
sale had a large turnout. Money
went to the Sunday School. The
UCW will meet on Thursday eve-
ning at 8 p.m. with a special speak-
er. A congregational potluck dinner
is to be held at the church on Satur-
day, November 16. All members
are asked to bring a potluck item.

the sudden death of Laura (Dixon)
Leckie at the home of her daughter
in Kitchener. Born in McGillivray
township, she was an aunt of Doug-
las and Lou Dixon of Centralia.
