Gatzi, aged 83, received minor injuries. Both vehi- cles were reported,to have been se- verely damaged,•40.:,t Last Wednesday a cirariVetr by Mary Muller of Crediton struck the parked car of Berdina Harrigan of RR3 Lucan on King Street in Cre- diton. Both vehicles were lightly damaged. Thursday, a motorcycle driven by Derick McGee of RR2 Zurich was forced off the road by another vehi- cle. McGee's motorcycle was se- verely damaged, but McGee es- caped uninjured. Also Thursday, a car driven by Gladys Buckland of RR5 London went out of control due to wet road conditions and struck a mailbox on Highway 83 in Usborne Township, causing minor damage to the car. On Friday a car driven by Doug- las Willert of Zurich went out of control on Concession 2-3 of Hay Township and struck a tree. The car was extensively damaged and Willert and three passengers re- ceived what police describe as mi- nor injuries. The OPP also investigated the claim that youths from the area were planning to meet in Hensall for a gang fight on Thursday eve- ning. However, staff sergeant Don McInnis said little came of it, which he said was common for such incidents. "To my information there's noth- ing that has come out on that ex- cept a lot of rhetoric," said McIn- nis. In Home Day Care Provides Training Program PROGRAM -ADMINISTRATOR A program has been developed 10 provide women with training in the home day care field. The program requires a Program Administrator on a contractual basis beginning December 1, 1991. This program is located in Clinton and serves all of Huron County under the direction of the Board of Directors of Women Today. The Program Administrator will recruit trainees, arrange for a training team, be responsible for financial organization and locate, and monitor training place- ments for participants. The Program Administrator will have the following qualifications: University Degree or Equivalent, with experi- ence and knowledge of Day Care Principle and Theory; famihanty with rural community development and adult education; excellent verbal and written communications skills; famil- iarity with Huron County Social Services. MARYS - Results from water samples taken two weeks ago at the Plover Mills public school near St. Marys are in and the school has been given a clean bill of health. Bottled wa- ter had been brought in for stu- dents since September when bacteria was found in the school's well during a routine sampling. The well was over- hauled in early October and re- sults released last Wednesday gave it a zero bacterial count. Library funding hot issue in St. Marys election ST. MARYS - Library fund- ing will be a major issue in St. Marys' municipal election, and •eleven candidates seeking a po- sition on council debated financ- ing and support of the institution during Monday's all -candidates meeting at the town hall. A $20,000 slash in the St. Marys Library budget has forced the closure of the library on Sat- urdays and a reduction of book purchases by $5,000. Brain tumour in 14 -year-old vanishes MITCHELL - Experts are stunned by the mysterious events surrounding a 14 -year- old Mitchell youth's battle with a cancerous brain tumour. Since age two, Shawn Clarke has been battling a tumour which began inside his spinal cord and gradu- ally grew into his brain. Last November the youth was given just four weeks to live, but over the past few weeks doctors have been baffled by the tumour's complete disappearance. Clarke is currently in Stratford Hospital but will be transferred to a hos- pital in London for further tests. Fourth annual industrial dinner held HOLMESVILLE - The Huron Industrial Advisory Committee held its fourth annual industry dinner Thursday, at the Gode- rich Township Community Cen- tre in Holmesville. Special guests included MP Murray Cardiff, MPP Paul Klopp and Warden of Huron County James Robinson. Art Church, president and chief executive officer of Cham- pion Road Machinery Ltd. in Goderich was the guest speaker. Church addressed the crowd of 150, discussing what needs to be done by public and post secon- dary school systems, as well as by industry if companies in Hu- ron County and Canada are to survive in the highly competi- tive global market. Blyth man hospitalized following accident BLYTH- ABlythareaman was hospitalized with serious in- juries last Thursday morning, following an accident in East Wawanosh Township. Gary Caldwell, age 33, was travelling along Sidcroad 40 in a 1987 GMC pickup heading north when he failed to stop at the stopsign in at the County Road fve intersection. His ve- hicle was struck by a westbound dump truck, driven by Cecil Brear of Trout Creek. Caldwell was taken to Wing - ham and District Hospital with major injuries and later trans- ferred to Victoria Hospital in London. Equipment stolen FULLARTON - Welding equipment valued at $600 was stolen from a residence in Ful- Iarton sometime between Octo- ber 17 and 19. Police have no suspects and are asking for assis- tance.
