Crediton
collector's
show a
success
CREDITON - The Stephen
Township Community Centre was
host to a successful sports collec-
tors show on Saturday, as kids of
all ages scoured tables in search of
various cards and comic books.
The show featured ten tables
hockey, baseball, football and other
novelty cards, and organizers said
the event was positive enough that
they are already planning another
show in the spring.
"We accomplished what we set
out to do," said organizer Ross
Haugh. "We wanted to make
everything available to the young
kids and that's what we did."
Collectors could find a lot of bar-
gains, and were also enticed by
door prizes such as Michael Jordan
cards, NFL starter sets and 1991-92
NHL yearbooks, offered on the
hour with their one dollar admis-
sion.

STAFFA - Esther Smale hosted
the Tweedsmuir meeting of the
Staffa Womcns Institute at her
home on Wednesday evening.
Guest speaker for the evening
was Clayton Harris, who spoke on
genealogy, telling members how to
about researching their family
trees. Harris said a good source of
information was the family Bible.
He also stated any family stories
should be included as this is one
way of sharing info with the next
generations. He closed by reading
one of his family trees in story
form, which was most interesting.
Clayton was introduced by Grace
Kerslake, and thanked by Esther
Smale.
President Joyce Vivian presided
for the meeting, opening with a
thought for the day, the Institute
Ode, accompanied by Marion
McCaughey on the piano and the
Mary Stewart Collect Thirteen
members answered the roll call by
naming something I have that
would amaze my grandmother.
Grace Kerslake reported on the
recent Perth County Rally, held at
Atwood Community Centre, and
Verle Mahon reported on the Lon-
don Arca Convention held recently
in Norwich.
During business, Verle Mahon re-
ported that she had approached
Hibbert Council about putting a
W.I. crest or sign on the hall. This
was left to discuss further at the
November meeting. Roberta Tem-
pleman will host the November
meeting when Betty Boyce will be
speaking on safety.
Joyce Miller gave a short reading
on grandmothers and the meeting
was adjourned.
Following tea, members enjoyed
having their tea cups read by Ra-

with Annie Reed were guests at the
meeting.
