Bowling roundup
Tournament format changes
By Ron Dann
ZURICH - The format of the Hir-
am Walker Special Old High -Low
Doubles tournament has been
changed by the Ontario Five Pin
Bowlers' Association (O.F.P.B.A.).
In previous years this Special Old
tournament required bowlers to
beat their personal average all six
weeks of the Special Old league
round to avoid elimination. This
caused many bowlers to be elimi-
nated after only one, two or three
weeks.
The Special Old league round
will now use a five week, total pins
over average format. All bowlers
will now remain in for the full five
weeks. Special Old league champs
and zone round qualifiers will be
determined by most total pins over
their average over the five weeks.
The two bowler teams are decid-
ed by matching the highest average
bowler with the lowest average,
etc. The Special Old entry deadline
is October 20 and the Special Old
league round runs form weeks of
October 28 and November 30.
The Zurich 5 Pin Bowlers Asso-
ciation Special Old three game
zone ralloffs will be held January
12. The winners will advance to the
Special Old Provincial Champion-
ships February 29 in a O.F.P.B.A.
designated centre.
The next Bluewater 5 Pin Bowl-
ers Association meeting is Friday,
October 18, 7 p.m. at Molesworth
lanes. Plans will be completed for
the Labatt's Blue Light Open 20
game zone rolloffs December 1 and
8.

STRATFORD - It was a very disappointing week for the South Huron
girls basketball teams as they lost all of their games.
On Wednesday in Stratford against Si Mike's, the seniors lost a tough
33-23 game. Turnovers hurt in this one, as the hosts scored many unearned
baskets. Stacey Rader had six points for the Panthers and Sheryl Oke net-
ted five.
The junior game saw St. Mike's easily come away with a 35-6 win while
the midgets were beaten in a much closer 46-42 contest. !Carey Youmans
had 15 points for the Panthers with 12 from Heather Davies and Tara Pep-
per scored 10.
Last Monday, the South Huron teams travelled to Goderich. The seniors
lost 57-19 to a team which had a lot of stamina and height. Lisa Triebner
had six points for the Panthers.
The Juniors played a strong game but came up short 34-20. Christie
McInnes had eight points. In the midget game, the Panthers netted 21
points in the second half but still lost 39-29. Danielle Miners had seven
points.
