That's what the Exeter Legion peewees of the Shamrock Hockey League are doing this fall as they've started the 1991-92 season with a very impressive 3-0 record. Wednesday night at the South Huron Recreation Centre, the pee- wees opened the year with a 6-4 win over Forest. That was followed by a big 8-2 victory over Dorches- ter the following night and the week wrapped up with a 4-2 dou- bling of host Belmont on Sunday. Exeter looked to be in a little bet- ter shape than their counterparts. "We've been fortunate, we've had lots of ice. We've had close to a dozen hours," said Exeter coach Dave Partridge before the dropping of the puck Wednesday night. His team looks to be an aggres- sive one. Not only are they hungry to get to the puck, but they'll be giving out some bodychecks when required. "We had a meeting with the par- ents and they are in favour of it," Minor hockey scoreboard October 12 Parkhill 0 at Lucan 4 Goals: Trevor Smith, Nick llosking, A.J. "We'll be affiliating with the at- oms and bringing up players all year," said Partridge. Forest scored first on Wednesday as Jamie Kreft gave the visitors an early lead but Exeter bounced back and went ahead 3-1 on goals by Da- vid Farquhar, Jeff Sararas and Eric Clay. The visitors pulled to within one but the locals quickly pulled away as Mike France scored his first of two. "Mike France looks like he'll do a lot of scoring and Jeff MacLean shows a lot of promise," said Par- tridge. France's second goal, what proved to be the game winner, came with just 51 seconds left in the game and with only six ticks October 12 Exeter 1 - Mitchell 4 Goal: Jamie Hem Aaslits: Josh Maver, Mark Bitinski Exeter Waxen ouuhot Mitchell by a 3.1 margin but not an the scoreboard- Mitchell's goalkeeper and defence played very well. Hawks split left on the clock, Farquhar also got his second of the night. Exeter 8, Belmont 2 On the road for the first time of the regular season, Exeter skated to an 8-2 win on Thursday. It was 4-1 after the fust period and Exeter held a comfortable 6-2 lead after two periods of play. France couldn't be held back as he exploded for four goals. Also connecting were Sararas, Bill Kline, Farquhar and Bryce Hann. Gavin Poole and Geoff Maver each had a pair of assists. Exeter 4, Belmont 2 Exeter continued to win on the weekend with their third victory in as many starts. On Sunday, Exeter doubled Bel- mont and it was France once again having a big game as he netted all four tallies. MacLean and Maver each had a pair of assists while Bryan Richardson, Farquhar and Mark Bell also help set up the goals. The peewees see action again on Wednesday when they host Ilderton at 6:20 p.m. Continued from page 14 and Dave Dalrymple, and they re- sponded immediately. Trailing 4-1 in the second period, Dalrymple and Schiedel set up Cousineau for his first of four on the day. After Alvinston restored their three goal lead at the 16:20 mark, the newly inspired Hawks went on a tear, scoring titre goals in 24 seconds. "That line sparked the whole team," said Kernick. "Hopefully we'll pick ourselves up from there." Slow start: Alvinston jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period, and padded it with another goal early in the third. Paul Mand- ers got one back for Exeter before the Flyers notched their fourth. Cousineau then scored back to back goals, followed by singles from Dalrymple and John Bell to close out the second with the game tied at five. The line finished the game ac- counting for six of the team's eight goals. Cousineau led the way with four goals and one assist, followed by Schiedel with one goal and four assists and Dalrymple with one goal and two as°acts. Pest. awks 2 Following the postponement of Wednesday's game in Mitchell, due to problems with ice making equip- ment, Exeter travelled to Belmont for a return engagement with the Pests Saturday night. Last week in Exeter the Hawks disposed of Belmont quite handily by a score of 8-2, but showed little spark Saturday losing 5-2. "Belmont plays very tough _ in their own building," said Kernick. "They play a very physical game and we took too many retaliatory penalties." The Hawks started the game with three forward lines but quickly found themselves down to two, af- ter Dan Ryan and Derek Shackle- ton were both injured. Ryan, a promising rookie, broke a bone in his leg and will miss a minimum of six weeks. Shackleton re-injured his hand and will be side- lined fora week. Exeter will be at home to face Mt. Brydges Friday night, and will host Lambeth Saturday.
