Fall Festival of Quilts
GRANTON - The Fall Festival
of Quilts was presented by the Hu-
ron Perth Quilt Guild at the Kirk -

Greenlee hosted the October
A.C.W. meeting last week. Last
minute plans were made for St. Pat-
rick's "Autumn Dessert Euchre and
Bake Sale" to be held on Tuesday,
October 22 at 1 p.m. at the parish
hall.
Nadene Bedell, Mary Jefferies,
Suzanne Davis, Margaret Carroll,
Betty Johnson and Hazel Davis at-
tended the fall Deanery at Trinity
Church in Mitchell last Tuesday
evening.
A bridal shower was held at Si
Patrick's on Saturday, October 12
for Lisa Abeleira whose marriage
to Robert Tindall will take place
November 23. Marguerite Greenlee
aunt of the groom welcomed family
and friends. Abeleira introduced
her bridal party and family and af-
ter opening many gifts thanked eve-
ryone for coming and making the
day so special.
Ron and Margaret Carroll spent
Thanksgiving dinner with their
daughter Brenda and family.
Wayne and Cheryl Carroll and
family entertained family members
on Sunday for Thanksgiving din-
ner.
Clarence Davis has returned
home from St. Joseph's Hospital.
The congregation of St. Patrick's

St. Patrick's celebrated the ser-
vice of Holy Community on Sun-
day. Rev. Stephen Emery spoke to

At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes'
sermon was about Giving Thanks
based on the lessons from Joel 2
and Luke 17.
London area convention
The 77th London Area W.I. Con-
vention was held at the Norwich
Community Centre on Thursday,
hosted by Oxford South district.
The theme was Women and their
personal environment. About 264
ladies attended from Oxford, Elgin,
Middlesex, Huron and South Perth
counties and learned about personal I
growth, stress management and the
environment.
The Maryn Pardy scholarships
were awarded to Mary Ann Ladell,
Mary Evely Lather and Joan Ker-
slake. The F.I.W.O. Conferencewill
be held at Lakehead University in
Thunder Bay, August 7, 8 and 9,
1992.
Reports were heard on the past'
year's program. An invitation was
extended from North Middlesex
District to hold the '92 convention
on Wednesday, October 14 at the
Ailsa Craig Community Centre.

were co -delegates.
Week of the Child
HENSALL - This year's Week of
the Child in Hensall promises to be
a good one as the municipal office
has a host of events planned.
"Clubs for children in the area
open their doors to inon-members
and allow them to participate," said
Ann Willert at the municipal office
in Hensall.
Children are invited to see how
various clubs operate and a point
collector sheet is put together for
the child. As each event is attend-
ed, the child obtains a signature.
At week's end, children with the
most signatures will win prizes.
In addition, the Economic Devel-
opment Committee will be running
a haunted house for children on
Brock St., and a costume parade
will be run on Saturday, October
26. Children are invited to attend
in their Hallowe'en costumes at
1:30 p.m. at the town hall or in the
public school auditorium if it rains.
Prizes will be awarded for the best
costume.
The Parks Board will sponsor a
movie day at the arena beginning at
10 a.m. and running until noon. For
a loonie, children are entitled to a
movie, free lunch and free skating
from 1-3 p.m.
The Week of the Child will begin
Saturday, October 19 and run
through to October 26. For more
information, parents can contact the
Hensall municipal office.
Hensall seniors meet
HENSALL - The Three Links
Seniors met last Tuesday at 8 p.m.
The president opened the meeting
with a poem "Take Your Time".
Fifteen members answered the
roll call. An invitation was received
from Zurich to attend the second
anniversary of dining out on No-
vember 27.
The seniors are having a card par-
ty on October 29 at 8 p.m. Every-
one is welcome and lunch will be
provided. Admission is two dollars.
The Christmas meeting will be De-
cember 10, 1991.
The Shore Line Health Company
will be at the Blue Water Rest
Home on October 24 from 6 to 8
p.m. A moment of silence was ob-
served in memory of Elsie Carlile.
Hilda, Olga, and Evelyn then
took charge of the program. Olga
read a poem "Who is a Senior Citi-
zen?"
Winners of euchre were: Ruby
Bell, Pearl McKnight, Irene Black-
well, Pearl Taylor. Lone hands Sa-
die Hoy.
Hensall Kinsmen
The Hensall Kinsmen are holding
a Farm Toy Show and Sale on Sun-
day, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. Admission is $2.00. It is to be
held at the sall Community
Centre.

DASHWOOD - Aldene Wolfe at-
tended the funeral of her sister-in-
law Colleen Wolfe, wife of George
Wolfe, a former Dashwood resi-
dent.
The Calvary United Church
Women held their Thanksgiving
meeting Tuesday with the Christian
Development chairperson, Idella
Gabel, opening with prayer.
. The history of thanksgiving was
read by Gertie McCrae. Scriptures
and readings were given by Martha
Weigand, Edith Baker, Charlene
Edwards.
Eleanor Weigand introduced the

speaker, Nancy Bowers, from Alz-
heimer's Society, London.
Music was provided by Harry

thankful for this Thrtksgiving"
She welcomed 10 guests from Zu-
rich and Crediton.

Catholic Church, Wednesday, Oc-
tober 16 at 8 p.m.
