Worldwide Communion service
held at Thames Road

THAMES ROAD - On Wednes-
day, October 9 there will be a Ses-
sion meeting at Elimville church at
7:30 p.m. and the Official Board
meeting at 8:30 p.m. at Elimville.
Note the change of location for
these meetings.
Confirmation
Confirmation Class for grades
seven, eight, nine and older to meet
Thursday, October 10, at the manse
at 4 p.m. -5:30 p.m.
Other times and arrangements to
be discussed with students at this
meeting, so that they can choose
the right time for everyone.
Friends for Life
Friends for Life is a new group
for ages 55 and older which begins
this fall. First meeting will be held
Sunday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. A
short program plus whatever you
want to eat will be at the 3A's Res-
taurant in Exeter. Come out and
join in on the fellowship.
Sunday, October 20 will be the
celebration of'Thames Road United
Church's Anniversary at 11 a.m.
Thursday, October 24 at 5:30
p.m. there will be a service at
Queensway in Hensall at which the
Thames Road Ladies will be assist-
ing.
Church service
The Worldwide Communion Ser-
vice was held Sunday morning.
Rev. Sheila Macgregor read the
Scripture Lesson Luke 22: 14-20.
The congregation sang the chil-
dren's hymn "Jesus Loves the Little
Children". Rev. Macgregor gave an
Intergenerational message. The eld-
ers served communion assisted by
the minister.
The choir sang "Seek Ye First the
Kingdom of God" accompanied by
organist Agnes Bray.
The flowers in the church were
placed there in memory of the late
Robert Maver by the family.
Refreshments were provided by
Rick and Karen Etherington and
Joan Morgan after church.
Personals
Many people from this communi-
ty called at the Hopper -Hockey Fu-
neral Home on Thursday to pay
their respects at the funeral on Fri-
day of the late Robert Maver. Sym-
pathy is extended to his wife Jean
and family.
Hilda Kelleu attended the 25th
wedding anniversary celebration
for Doug and Donna Heard at St.
Marys Legion Saturday evening.
Orland and Brenda Stewart,
George and Janet Louks of London
visited Sunday afternoon with Bill
and Rhoda Rohde.
