Two teams managed to come away with a win. It looked as though the Panther midgets were going to have some trouble early on with Listowel dominating in the first quarter. They fought back and were down by only one basket heading into the second half. With a strong team effort in the final quarter, the Panthers tied it up. South Huron's Heather Davies wrapped things up in a very tense overtime. Davies netted 17 points as the midgets won 62-56. Danielle Min- ers also had a strong game with 15 points while Karey Youmans net- ted ten. Tara Pepper and Jana Web- ster scored eight each. The win upped the midgets Hu- ron -Perth league record to 2-0. One point difference: The junior Panthers were not as lucky as they had a close intense game against Listowel. Host Listowel came away with a one point, 29-28 victory. Christie McInnes led the Panthers with eight points while Candace Miller and Jamie McGee each add- ed six. The Panthers are still look- ing for their first win. Low scoring contest: The senior game did not turn out to be as nail- biting as the other two contests. With a very strong and solid team effort, the Panthers led 14-4 at the half and continued to dominate. The final score was 26-16 with team co -captain Sheryl Oke hitting for 14 points. Stacey Rader added two points. South Huron has a 1-1 record. Tournament action: On Friday, the seniors travelled to Clinton for a round-robin tournament and came home very successful. In their first game, the Panthers took an early 12-2 lead in the first quarter and staying in front, coming away with a 30-22 win. Sheryl Oke netted eight points and Rader had six. In the second game, South Huron went up against the tough Clinton Redmen. South Huron was in the lead for most of the game and closed it with a 36-22 win. It was the third straight win over the Red - men. Carrie Oke led the way with 16 points, her best to date. Despite a nagging injury, Sheryl Oke had six points, Rader and Lisa Triebner each added four.
