The Drop In Club at the Exeter Lions Youth Centre opened its
doors to 40 grade 7 and 8 students Friday evening, providing
recreational activities all night. Here a few of the boys try
their hands at ping pong after the dinner hour. The Club is

SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's cel-
ebrated their Harvest service on
Sunday, September 29 at 10 a.m.
with the service of Holy Commun-
ion.
Marguerite Greenlee read the les-
sons. Lisa Carroll was server, Mar-
garet Carroll as lay assistant and
Cheryl Carroll as church pianist.
Accompanying Carroll were guest
singers Wendy Hardy and her
daughter Melissa of Lucan, who
sang two beautiful duets, "The
Lord's Prayer" and "Let there be
Peace on Earth".
Rev. Stephen Emery told the chil-
dren the story about the Giant and
for his homily talked of biblical
scenes of betrayal and forgiveness
as portrayed in the motion picture
Ben Hur.
Harvest visitors with Mary Kooy
were her family Clayton and Alice
Kooy, Bonnie and Clyde of Cen-
tralia, the family of Harry Noels,
Helen MacDonald, Howard Dolan
of Lucan and Jack Dickins of Exet-
er.
The family of Peter Garland visit-
ed with Earl and Marguerite Green-
lee.
The families of Howard McDo-
nald and Jim Shipley of Lucan vis-
ited with Hugh and Hazel Davis.
There will be no service at St.
Patrick's Sunday, October 6 as St.
Pauls, Kirkton will celebrate their
Harvest Service at 10 a.m. Every-
one is urged to attend, along with
their children. Sunday, October 13
St. Patrick's service will be at 11
a.m.
The families of Ron Cunning-
ham, Mar and Marylou Tindall of
Mississauga were weekend guests
with parents Bob and Alexia Tin-
dall and Robert. Along with grand-
mother Mary Davis, they attended a
bridal shower for Lisa Abeleira in
London.
Hensall's
Week of
the Child

HENSALL - Hensall's Week of
the Child is coming up. This year it
will be from October 19 to October
26, 1991. More details later.
Coming events
Hensall Gymnastics Club regis-
tration night will be held Wednes-
day, October 2 at Hensall Public
School from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Cost
$25.00 for 20 week and is for peo-
ple aged three years before January
1, 1992 and up. There will be two
classes Wednesday nights 7-8 and
8-9, starting Wednesday, October
23. For more information call Val,
262-3332 after 6. Everyone wel-
come.
First coffee break
of fall season
EXETER - Decorating doors and

at the first coffee break of the fall
season hosted by the ladies of Em-
manuel Baptist Church on Satur-
day, September 28.
After helping themselves to cof-
fee and choosing from a variety of
delicious coffee cakes, the 50 wom-
en in attendance sat back to watch
Cathy Swance, of Kirkton, turn In-
dian corn, cattails, autumn leaves
and flowers, grapevines, ribbon and
decorative ducks into two eye-
catching door swags and an attrac-
tive wreath.
Guest speaker Barb Hodgins, of
Clinton, captured everyone's atten-
tion with a humorous song she had
written about dieting. The ditty
ended with the assurance God
looks not at our cellulite but at our
hearts.
Hodgins then detailed her person-
al journey that led from looking for
perfection and happiness in all the
wrong places, to a deep and satisfy-
ing faith in God.
Exeter residents Donna Paynter
and Lyla Broderick will demon-
strate the art of china painting at
the next coffee break on October
10. The speaker will be Liz Benn,
wife of the pastor of West Park
Baptist Church, London.
"Heirlooms from my Attic" will
be the focus for an afternoon tea
November 30, with speaker Lottie
Kelsall. Guests will be invited to
bring a treasured book poem, orna-
ment, piece of jewellery or other
meaningful keepsake.

UNITY
Legion holds Auxiliary meeting
EXETER - The Ladies Auxiliary
of the R.E. Pooley Exeter Branch
167 Royal Canadian Legion held
their first meeting after their sum-
mer recess Monday, September 23
with 40 members present.
A scrumptious potluck supper
was enjoyed before the meeting ,
chaired by president Marilyn Riley.
Shirley Smith won the mystery
prize.
A $100.00 donation each was
made to Survival Through Friend-
ship, Perth County Literacy Pro-
gram and Child Find. $200.00 for
two weeks free skating at South
Huron Rec centre.
Social convener Cathy Pfaff out-
lined the plans for the Auxiliary
40th anniversary dinner and da :e
to be held on Saturday, October 26.
Shirley Smith reported a good
turnout for the Legion Chili Cook -
off. Fourteen booths attended and
they have plans for a bigger and
better one for 1992.
The next general meeting will P.;
on Monday, October 25 at 8 p.m.
