Ailsa Craig UCW
AILSA CRAIG - The Ailsa Craig
United Church Women renewed fel-
lowships at the September meeting
held in the Sunday School room.
During the program each lady
told how she had spent the summer
and brought along pictures to show.
Everyone had been involved in
some interesting activity during the
summer recess. There had been
birthday parties, anniversaries, wed-
dings and conventions, visits from
grandchildren as well as short trips
and longer trips.
Yvette MacGregor had set up a
lovely worship centre using a beau-
tiful bouquet of roses and then,
since this is the beginning of a new
season of UCW work, used "Begin-
ning" as the theme for her worship
service. Betty Sutherland read a
scripture passage from the first
chapter of Genesis. The hymn All
the Way My Saviour Leads Me was
sung.
MacGregor read a meditation
about new beginnings and the poem
"September". Wilma McIntosh, the
president, presided for the busi-
ness meeting. A decision was
made to purchase some 1992 Unit-
ed Church calendars. Gertrude
Rosser, Community Outreach
Convener, had sent cards and vis-
ited some shutins.
To introduce one of the books in
the church library Margaret Wil-
son and Wilma McIntosh read
What is Your Technique?, a dia-
logue between Jesus and Peter.
Then Wilson reviewed several
books and encouraged everyone to
use the library.
Lena Stokes and the quilters are
already busy quilting a quilt and
have more quilts to be quilted.
Wilson closed the meeting with a
benediction and then MacGregor
and her helpers served a tasty
lunch of pie with a cup of tea.
The Ailsa Craig United Church
Women will meet again in the
Sunday School room on Tuesday,
October 8 for a Thanksgiving
meeting. Women, young and old
are welcome to attend.
