Bayview hosts tenth invitational
ST. JOSEPH - The Bayview
Golf Club held its 10th annual
invitational tournament Satur-
day, and 140 golfers came out
for the event
Overall winner of the day was
Steve Atkins, whose score of 67
was a full five strokes under par.
The low net golfer was Bruce
Johnson.
In the A,B, and C divisions the
rankings were as follows: A
low gross Dave Scott - 68, A
low net Wayne Reed - 64; B
Low gross Steve Paisley - 75, B
low net Phil Overholt - 63; C
low gross Riley Hinson - 87, and
C low net Orno Adair at 62
strokes.
The longest drive award went
to Richard Schilbe and Bruce
Johnson came closest to the
hole.
The most honest golfer was Al
Abrahams.
An outdoor barbecue was held
after the event to cap off the golf
course's competitive season.
Exeter Minor Baseball presented a plaque to acknowledge
the support of the Exeter Optimists for their many years of fi-
nancial assistance to the organization. Last Wednesday af-
ternoon,
ftemoon, Katherine Ens, secretary of Minor Baseball, present-
ed the plaque to Optimist president Gerald Merner.

named
player of
the week
LONDON - Quarterback Jerry
Lamport led the London Beefeat-
ers to a 35-32 victory over the
Windsor AKO Fratmen in Ontario
Football Conference action at Re-
gina Mundi College Saturday, with
a performance that earned him of-
fensive player of the week hon-
ours.
Lamport, a Crediton native and
former quarterback for the South
Huron Panthers, completed 21 of
29 passes for 348 yards and four
touchdowns, including a 91 -yard
strike to Mike Crocker. The Beefs
are now 2-3 on the season, fighting
with Windsor for the final playoff
birth.

Last night for figure
skating registration
EXETER - Tonight, Wednesday, is the
last date for figure skating registration
with the Exeter and Area Figure Skating
Association at the South Huron Recrea-
tion Centre from 5 - 8 p.m.
Preliminary registration was held Sat-
urday, with over 50 skaters signing up.
"It looks as if it's on par with last
year," said club president Katherine Ens.
"But this year I think there are more boys."
Of the skaters registered, 18 are male. The club is looking for a
good turn out Wednesday, as last year they had 105 skaters regis-
tered.

pre -season
LUCAN - The Exeter Mohawks
are set to open training camp this
weekend, with four practices
scheduled for the Lucan arena.
Coach Dave Revington is back
and is looking forward to what he
believes will be another successful
season.
"It's too early to really tell, but I
think we should be pretty strong,"
said Revington.
Their first practice will be Sun-
day in Lucan at 7 p.m.
