The Community Yard Sale was another success. It was a little chil- ly early in the morning but sure beat the heat of last week. Another Yard Sale will be under way May 24 weekend of 92 so keep collecting and saving that val- uable junk. Sunday School begins in both Varna and Goshen on September 8 at the regular times. Teachers are badly needed. Anyone that can help or fill in on an occasional Sunday please contact Joe Laurie at 482- 9265. Varna U.C.W. meet Thursday, September 5 at 8 p.m. with Marg Lintz from Bayfield as guest speak- er speaking on her trip to Australia. Don and Jan Hopkins along with son Stephen and daughter Donna have moved into Dale and Diane Peck's home. Steven is ten years old and will be in grade five and Donna is eight years old going into Grade - three. Don manages pig barns in the area and Jan helps him. Don. Jan and family were former Dashwood area residents. Welcome to the village. Dale and Dianne and family have moved down the Parr Line into Harvey and Joyce Atchi- son's house while Harvey, Joyce and Neil have moved into a new house in Clinton. A very successful Daily Vacation Bible School was held once again in Brucefield United Church last week. The total number registered was, 69 with five classes. There were 37• children from Brucefield Church and Community, four from Kippen Church and Community, 17 from Varna Church and Communi- ty, and nine from Goshen Church and Community and two visitors. The teacher for Pre-school was Anita Cooper with assistants Shir- ley Hargreaves, Dana and Mark Cooper, Kindergarten Teacher was Linda Keys with assistants Peggy Keys and Greg Keys, Grades 1 and 2 Teacher was Leisa Stephenson with assistants Joan Beierling and Heather Laurie, Grades 3 and 4 Teacher was Willi Laurie with as- sistant Kim Stirling, Grades 5 and 6 Teacher was Rev. On July 27 they attended the Reid-Gaetz Wedding in Medicine Hat and spent the weekend visiting the Reid Families there and later again in Edmonton. Congratulations to Jason Beier - ling on winning the Award donated by Mtirray Cardiff for winning the most prize money in the Youth Sec- tion at the Bayfield Fair on Satur- day. Stephen Emery celebrated the Eucharist and spoke about being close to God and praying the scrip- tures. A time of fellowship followed the service. At the Granton United Church on Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes entitled her message "On Your Mark". Flowers in the sanctuary were from the-Lamtg-Qliver wed- ding. Laurie Anne Hodgins of Lancas- ter, formerly of Granton, visited with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hodgins of St. Marys and other relatives last week. Numerous Granton area residents attended the Decoration Day and service at St. James' Cemetery, Clandeboye on Sunday.
