Evelyn Pickering, accompanied by her sister Ellen Smithers, of Parkhill, have returned from a 7 day holiday at Nags Head, North Carolina, motoring down with El- len's son John and his wife. While there they saw many historical places, then spent two days in Pitts- burgh with their cousin Irene Shank, before flying home to Lon- don. Hugh and I, along with Don and Elizabeth Adams, attended a Mo- renz family gathering, Sunday at the summer home of Ernie and Ann Morenz at Camp Ipperwash. Close to 30 attended, coming from Lon- don, Staffa, Hensall and Exeter. A gift was presented to Ernie and Ann from the Morenz family, in honour of their 25th wedding anni- versary celebrated earlier this year. Thames Road by Rhoda Rohde THAMES ROAD - The annual Hodgert Invitational golf tourna- ment was played at the Exeter Golf Club on Sunday, with a27 golfers participating. Later about 50 rela- tives gathered in the yard at 494 Andrew St. in Exeter to enjoy a smorgasbord dinner. Lois Hodgert presented the tro- phey to Michael Hodgert, Grant Hodgert, Jean Hodgert, Rob Jury, Shirley Hodgert, Ivan Hern. Conso- lation to Bryan Hodgert, Helen Hodgert, Trevor McLean, Don Mayo. Individual honours went to Helen Hodgert, Brian Hodgert, Shirley Hodgert, Trevor McLean , Jeff Hodgert, Michael Hodgert, Brenda McLean. Personals Ross and Mildred Merrill of Bay- field, Gordon and Myrtle Pengelly of Belgrave were Tuesday supper guests with Bill and Rhoda Rohde Congratulations to Gerald and Caroline Johns on the birth of a daughter Evelyn Grace on Friday. Granton by Muriel Lewis GRANTON - The members of Court Carlton Forester's Lodge en- tertained Court Valentine at a bar- becue at the Park Pavilion on Satur- day evening. The Eedy Reunion was held at the Granton Park Pavilion on Sun- day, with an attendance of over 40. Plans were made to hold next year's reunion August 9, with Charlie Eedy as president and Doreen Eedy as secretary. Sympathy is extended to the fam- ily of Art Harlton who passed away on Thursday. At the St. Thomas' Anglican Church on Sunday, the Rev. Ste- phen Emery celebrated the Euchar- ist. His message was about the for- giveness of David to his son Absalom. The service next Sunday will be held at 11 a.m. There will be no regular services at the United Church during Au- gust. -- CQMM UNITY Centralia by Mary Kooy CENTRALIA - A number of girl friends gathered on Sunday after- noon at the home of Cathy Pavkeje of town when she and her sister Tracy Glavin entertained at a mis- cellaneous shower to honour Leanne Sovereign of Lucan (bride elect of September). After Leanne thanked all for the gifts lunch was served by the girls assisted by their mother Jackie Glavin of Huron Park. Helen MacDonald of Lucan and Mary Kooy visited on Wednesday with 'Harry and Marion Noels at their trailer at Klondyke Camp, Grand Bend. Bonnie Kooy has returned to her teaching position in London follow- ing a two week vacation with her parents Clayton and Alice Kooy of Huron Park.
