Nomads celebrate anniversary
EXETER - The Ausable River
Nomads celebrated the 20th anni-
versary of their club at the Morri-
son Dam on Sunday July 28.
There were over 60 former and
present members from Tavistock,
Stratford, Mitchell, Seaforth, Grand
Bend, Brucefield, Hensall and Ex-
eter in attendance. Two of the three
former field directors were also in
attendance.
Burdine Morgan gave a history of
the club. The first presidents were
Lois and Iry Armstrong, vice presi-
dents were Harvey and Dorothy
Pfaff, secretary was Alex and Nor-
ma Meikle, and treasurer - Bill and
Donna Perry. Over the years many
donations were made to the arenas
in the district Ausable-Bayfield
Conservation and Ronald McDo-
nald House in London. Presently
the Ausable River Nomads are
maintaining the Elliott Park as an
overnight camp ground in addition
to sponsoring the local blood donor
clinic twice a year.
For entertainment, Laurie Rich-
ardson from RR 1 Kirkton step
danced and Carl Mills from Exeter
played several numbers on the bag-
pipes.
Everyone enjoyed a smorgasbord
dinner served by the Nomads and
took advantage of the time to visit
with old friends.

CENTRALIA - Sunday at the
United Church the Huron -Perth
Presbytery inducted Rev. Jeannie
Udall following her recent ordina-
tion (as minister of Centralia). Zion
pastoral charge chairpersons was
Rev. Robert Bell and Rev. Sheila
MacGregor was representative of
Presbytery.
This was the final service for the
summer. The church will be closed
for the month of August. Next ser-
vice will be September 8 at 9:45
and 11:30 a.m. for both churches.
Faith Tabernacle will hold its an-
nual Vacation Bible School on Au-
gust 12, 13 and 14 from 6:30 to 8
p.m. All children are welcome for
evenings of worship, games and re-
freshments.
We are pleased to see Barney
Remmer back in Centralia after a
recent stay in hospital.
Sunday visitors with Mary Kooy
were Mrs. Loreen Fenton and son
Fred of Stratford.
At the Centralia Community Cen-
tre on July 22 prizes went to: High
score Marjorie Steeper and Frank
Hicks,; lone hands, Bernice Squires
and Harvey Godbolt; low score
Kay Armstrong and Charlotte Bark-
er (playing mans card). This is the
last euchre until fall. Hope to see
you all back then.
