Pathflnder camp dramas visitors
from England to Grand Bend
BY Rhonda Vandeworp
GRAND BEND - For the past
three years, Trillium Area leaders
have been busy inviting Pathfind-
ers from around the globe to attend
an international camp which is
now being held at Camp Orenda
near Belmont.
Over 600 girls are expected to at-
tend this week-long event. While
the majority of the campers are
Pathfinders from the area (Grand
Bend to London to Windsor), 250
of them are from foreign countries
such as England, Scotland, Jamai-
ca, Panama, Mexico, Australia,
Bermuda, New Zealand, Japan,
United States, and Norway.
The international camp includes
out -trips to Point Pelee, Toronto,
canoeing on the Thames, Wally
World, and Black Creek Village, in
addition to elective courses on self-
defence, arts and crafts, music vid-
eo, water sports, and HAM radio.
All of the international guests are
scheduled to visit Canada for two
weeks. Since the duration of the
camp is only seven days, the other
week will be spent living with an
Ontario Pathfinder and her family.
Most of the Grand Bend Path-
finders have already hosted their
English guests for a few days prior
to the camp, and have taken the
girls on their own out -trips to Niag-
ara Falls, Toronto, Huron Country
Playhouse, Pinery Provincial Park.
and other spots in and around
Grand Bend.
The local girls have enjoyed
"showing off their country, sis
Pathfinder leader Zelda Inthout,
and the warm hospitality and bril-
liant wegther is making the Canadi-
an visit a memorable one for the
Englanders.
