Show at Dusk 238-8344 Gerber withdraws NUK Nite Time pacifier TORONTO - Gerber (Canada) Inc. and Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada announced the vol- untary withdrawal by Gerber of the NUK Nite Time Handleless Pacifi- er. The pacifiers have a regular - sized nipple and the name NUK ap- pears twice on the central button. The product is sold in blister pack- ages bearing the model number 2503 and are recommended for children from four to eighteen months of age. No other NUK product is affected by the with- drawal. Gerber elected to remove the NUK Nite Tinie Handleless Pacifi- er from retail store shelves after re- viewing with Consumer and Corpo- rate Affairs Canada a consumer report of a choking incident involv- ing a 22 -month old child. "While this child was not serious- ly injured and there have been no instances of serious injury since this product was introduced in Can- ada during 1987, we share the con- cern of the Product Safety Branch of Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada," said David Mosley, Ger- ber (Canada) General Manager. "As a result, we have decided a voluntary withdrawal is in keeping with Gerber's high quality stan- dards." Federal Consumer and Corporate Affairs Pierre Blais said, "I com- mend Gerber (Canada) Inc. on their responsible action in this matter, and urge parents and caregivers to stop using this NUK Nite Time Pacifier." Mosley said consumers can ob- tain a new, replacement pacifier of a different design by returning their NUK Nite Time Pacifier (Model number 2503) to Gerber, 56 Brockport Drive, Etobicoke, Onta- rio, M9W 5N1. The replacement pacifiers are new and unique and feature a glow -in -the -dark handle that makes them easy to find in the dark, Mosley said. Consumers with questions re- garding the withdrawal may call Gerber at 1 -800 -4 -GERBER, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Consumers who may have experi- enced similar problems with any other type of pacifier are requested to contact the nearest office of Consumer ad Corporate Affairs Canada. cxrceDANCE ® HALL 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fri.
