Lucan's 24 hits leads to win
LUCAN - If records are kept in
the Western Junior Baseball
League, there is no doubt there
were a few of them broken Sunday
afternoon as host Lucan beat Salt -
ford 26-20.
Paul Smith, who batted second
was very destructive at the plate as
he went 6 -for -7 including a home
run, two doubles and three singles.
All he needed was a triple to hit for
the cycle.
Chris Smith, the leadoff batter
for Lucan got up to bat seven
times, scoring five runs thanks to a
double, a pair of singles and a
couple of walks.
In all, Lucan pounded out 24 hits
and collected 12 walks, three of
those to. Brad Coughlin. Lucan had
a total of four home runs while
Saltford had two.
Listowel 12, Dashwood 5
It took host Dashwood until the
fifth inning to get on the scoreboard
on Sunday when Dan Masse, Steve
Farquhar, Scott Parsons and Shawn
Gillespie all singled.
In the seventh, the Listowel
pitching struggled, giving up back-
to-back walks to Parsons and Gil-
lespie. Jody Masse tagged a single
and Jamie Ramer belted a double to
help score three runs.
Dashwood was beaten 19-9 by
Saltford last Tuesday night and on
Wednesday, improved to take Exet-
er to a 6-6 tie. The rest of that game
will be payed at a l er_date,
Monday night Dashwood took on
St. Marys.
Co-ops at tourney
The Exeter Co-op Juniors trav-
elled to Courtright on the weekend
for a tournament and returned with
a win and a lose.
It was an unusual situation as
they started their game with Chat-
ham on Thursday night but due to
time restrictions it was not finished
until Saturday.
After 10 innings and three' days
later, Exeter managed to win 6-5.
The winning run was scored in the
10th inning by Mark Keller who
