Co-ops at tourney The Exeter Co-op Juniors trav- elled to Courtright on the weekend for a tournament and returned with a win and a lose. It was an unusual situation as they started their game with Chat- ham on Thursday night but due to time restrictions it was not finished until Saturday. After 10 innings and three' days later, Exeter managed to win 6-5. The win saw the Express break the .500 mark as their Great Lakes Senior Baseball League schedule stands at 8-7 heading into Thursday's game in Listowel. Exeter has got a busy week as they travel to Lakeside on Fri- day and host ,Tillsonburg in a double -hitter on Sunday begin- ning at noon. Against Strathroy, the Express got three runs in the second in- ning when D'Arcy Marten led off with a walk, moved on Bayn- ham's single and Marty Meurer connected with a double. Don McDonald had a single to drive in another run. Exeter also had a three -run seventh inning which started when Kevin Hern was safe on' a fielders' choice, Marten reached base on an error and Baynham connected with his second single of the game. Tough tournament: The tour- nament in London wasn't as suc- cessful for the Express as they came up short in both games. In the opener Saturday, Exeter lost 7-2 to Corunna. Offensiv- ley, the Express got one run in the third when Pete •Heeney was hit by a pitch, stole second and came home on Rob Dickey's hit. The fourth inning saw Baynham double and score on Brian Riv- ard's single. Against Tillsonburg in the sec- ond game, Exeter slipped behind 3-1 and could not recover, los- ing 10-4.
