In South Perth Men's action, the
Exeter Royals were hammered 11-
1 by defending league champions
St. Pauls •Generals 11-1. That
dropped Exeter's record to 10-6.
There was a couple of bright
spots in the game however, both
came from outfielder Jim Lewis.
He made a diving catch in the fifth
inning and scored the Royals lone
run.
In the ninth, Lewis beat out an in-
field single and scored all the way
from first when Mike Neil clubbed
a double up the middle.
Dan Heywood started on the
mound for Exeter but because of
some Shakey defence behind him,

Shaw's bat leads Express
EXETER - Dave Shaw's' bat
made a big difference for the Exet-
er Express as he went 4 -for -5 Sun-
day afternoon against Lakeside.
The locals beat Lakeside 10-6
and last Tuesday handled visiting
London Kings 11-9. Against the
Kings, Shaw had two home runs.
Exeter who now has a .500
record at 7-7 in the Great Lakes
Senior League was supposed to
play a double -hitter with Kincar-
dine on Sunday.
"They called late and said they
couldn't field a team,' said Express
manager Joe Fulop.
Shaw, a member of the New
York Rangers of the National
Hockey League, gave the home
team a very early 3-0 lead in the
top of the first inning when he belt-
ed a three run homer.
"He's crushing the ball and he's
giving the other guys confidence,"
said Fulop.
Leadoff batter Brian Rivard dou-
bled and Rob Dickey singled to
start the game both scored on
Shaw's round -tripper. Shaw, who
started on the mound then moved to
first base, also had a single in the
third, a sixth inning base hit and a
double in the seventh which scored
two more runs.
In the third inning, Shaw led off
with a single, Kerry Hedden
walked and Kevin Drager hit a
home run as the Express built a 7-1
lead after three innings.

Exeter was able to get their pitch-
ers some work as Drager, Marty
Merrier, Paul Elston, Scot Davidson
and Scot Russell all pitched.
Elston has a bit of tendonitis in
his shoulder but he pitched an in-
ning and walked one, struck out
one and gave up three hits. Fulop
said Elston is recovering and hopes
to be. throwing more this weekend
when the Express head to the Lake-
side Tournament.
"He has to ice it before and after
he pitches," said Fulop of Elston's
shoulder.
