Separate School near Lucan last Tuesday eve- ning. In the back row from left are Holly Fairweather, Meghan Shortt, Gary Goertz, Josh Kenny, Karen VanBussel, Chris Dlsher, St. Patrick's school presents graduation awards LUCAN - Tuesday, June 25, 1991, St. Patrick's School held their graduation ceremony. Twenty-two students graduated from grade eight. The evening began with a meal followed by a pr gram that in- cluded a guest speaker. Rev. Roger McComb gave an interesting and enlightening talk. Some students received special awards. Amy Damen and Tim Da- men received best progress awards. Jennie Malone and Douglas Mac- Gregor received high academic awards. The C.P.T.A. Personal Achievement Award went to Cathe- rine Damen. Renee Peuypiece re- ceived the Nancy Ryan Memorial for ladyship and Sean Ryan re- ceived the Michael VanderLoo Award for gentleinw ship. The Maslen Family Award for all round female student went to Karen VanBussel and the John Vander - Loo Jr. Memorial Award for all round male student went to Joshua Kenny. Julie Jemec was the valedictorian and Kellie Maslen read a reading entitled "The Station". Saintsbury by H. Davis SAINTSBURY - The Parish of Kirkton, Granton and Saintsbury celebrated A Sabbath for the Earth and Holy Communion with an out- door worship service, Sunday, at St. Patrick's. The singing group "Arise" from London sang an anthem during communion, accompanied the con- gregation on other hymns. and also did the children's focus, He's got the whole world in His hands. Cheryl Carroll was organist for the remainder of the service. Mar- garet Carroll was lay assistant and Mary Jefferies read the lessons. Rev. Stephen Emery stressed in his homily that Mother Earth does not need us, but we need Mother Earth, and how we should do things to help, rather than destroy. A social time followed in the Par- ish Hall. There will be no services in July, resuming again Sunday, August 4. at 8:30 a.m. at Si Patrick's. There will be a picnic and pool pity at the home of Hazel Davis, July 9 at 12:30 p.m. Please remem- ber your donations for the bale to be packed for our Prayer Partner. Ross McFalis is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital. We wish him a speedy. recovery. St. Patrick's own Mary Davis is feeling much better and able to be out. Crediton news CREDITON - With Rev. Ed Lak- smanis on holidays, guest speakers will be in the pulpit for the next three weeks at Zion United Church. Former Zion minister Rev. Brian Elder will be back in charge of the service for this coming Sunday, July 7. Pirie Mitchell of Parkhill, formerly a talent show host on CFPL Television will be here on Juge 14 and the following week it will be Mrs. Alma Langford of Ex- eter. Vacation Bible School will be held at the church each morning from July 29 to August 2 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Members of the congregation are asked to bring in items that may be used for crafts. Granton by Muriel Lewis GRANTON - A number of peo- ple eaple from Granton enjoyed the ham and strawberry supper at Holy Trin- ity Anglican Church m Lucan on Wednesday evening, June 26. Biddulpb Central Graduation The grade eight graduation was held at Biddulph Central school on Tuesday evening, June 25. Granton area graduates were Melanie Beat - son, Jean Bryan, Carrie Currah, Lisa Reeves and Paula Wallis. The Harvey Mowbray Award which originated at SS #7 (the Granton ; �� was received by Melaine At the South Perth Centennial School graduation held on Tues- day. June 25. Granton area grade . eight graduates were Darren Bi- lyea, Sonya Chittick, Scot Hodes' Kim Jones and Sandra White. Hodgins also won the Boys Aca- demic Proficiency award, Kim Jones the Citizenship Award and Sandra White the French Award. There was no service at the St. Thomas' Anglican Church on Sun- day, June 30 but members of the congregation attended the parish "Sabbath for the earth" service held outdoors at St. Patrick's Church, Saintsbury.
