"Mr. Dressup" visits Playhouse
By Roberta Walker
GRAND BEND - There he was,
live on stage, with Casey and
Finnegan, Ernie Coombs, known
and loved by three generations of
children as "Mr. Dressup". Huron
Country Playhouse offered two
!concerts on Sunday to enjoy a TV
idol of the munchkin set, and the
theatre was crowded with children
and their parents to see Mr. Dress -
up in person.
He did not disappoint, offering a
show of magic tricks, songs and
comedy to the delight of his enthu-
siastic young audience. The "Tickle
Trunk" was center stage, providing
an endless array of costumes and
props to transform "Mr. Dressup"
into a magician, a farmer, a rock
star, a clown and a jungle explorer.
Jim Parker and his guitar provided
some live music for audience par-
ticipation, like "Farm Animals" and
"If You're Happy and You Know
It", but the most impressive number
was the rock'n'roll oldie, "Rockin'
Robin" complete with light show.
Casey and Finnigan arc even more
charming on stage, and Coombs is
a master entertainer, finishing the
show to the wild applause of par-
ents and kids alike.

ton and Kathryn O'Malley, was
baptized at Immaculate Heart of
Mary Church in Grand Bend on
June 29. Congratulations also goes
to Andrew Paul Digby, infant son
of Paul Digby and Victoria Dell,
who was also received into the
Catholic community through the
Sacrament of Baptism.
Father Paul Beck celebrated alt
weekend Masses, assisted by Dea-
con Sam Dixon. in his homily, Fa-
ther Beck talked about the Good
News" of the Risen Christ. Do we
hear it as only "old news" or even
"dead news"? The Living Christ
\ will help us to face, to accept and
to deal with the problems handed
out in life. Facing terminal illness
or nurturing a handicapped child is
never easy, but it is possible to con-
tinue in faith, and that is "Good
News", indeed.
Members of the Catholic Wom-
en's League held a Bake Sale after
Sunday Masses, well patronized by
holiday weekend crowds. All pro-
ceeds went to the Lambton County
