However, Balsdon won the challenge, doing 99 push-ups In the min-

Rev. Geddes guest speaker at Varna church

VARNA - Rev. Clare Geddes,
Chaplain at the Blue Water Rest
Detention Centre in Goderich was
guest minister on Sunday at Varna
Goshen churches in absence of
Rev. Philips away at.tufamily pic-
nic in Belleville. ..••
Regular church services will
wind up next Sunday with no
church services in July. This is
your time to visit with other neigh-
bouring churches.
Sunday, August 4 will be the
Lakeside Church service and pic-
nic at Stanley park.
The flowers in Varna -Goshen
churches were placed there in
memory of Frank McLinchey, by
his wife and family.
Ball schedule for this week is
Thursday, June 26 at 9 p.m. Stan-
ley Bantam boys vs Hullet. Tues-
day, July 2 at 7 p.m. Stanley Pee
Wee girls vs Clinton. Most of the
games are away this week but will
be back.
Anyone wishing to register their
child or children for Daily Vacation
Bible School in Brucefield Church
for the week of August 19-23 from
9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. This is for
Brucefield- Kippen- Varna- Gosh-'
en charges. Cost is $5 per child and

Greys win
MITCHELL - Trailing 4-0 in the
second inning, the Exeter Greys
rallied to beat Mitchell 10-6 in Hu-
ron Perth Ladies Fastbell League
action here Monday night.
Catcher Kendra Arthur contin-
ued to have a good season at the
plate as she connected with a home
run to start the comeback.
Centre fielder Sandi Fremlin had
a run scoring triple in the fifth in-
ning and a double in the sixth
drove in two more runs. Georgina
Reynolds had a double and a sin-
gle.
The Greys travel to Winthrop to-
night

Pitcher Patti Down had nine
strikeouts including three in a row
in the second inning as Exeter won
a slim 2-1 decision last Tuesday
night in Exeter.
Brenda Bell and Cheri Carter
scored for the Greys in the second
inning as Exeter was retired in or-
der in the third, fourth and fifth
frames.
Denfield had a chance to take a
big lead in the top of the fifth when
they scored their lone run. Howev-
er, they left the bases loaded and
the Greys picked up their fourth
win of the season.

Michael J. Coleman received his
Bachelor of Laws Degree from the
University of Toronto Facility of
Law at Convocation Ceremonies on
June 14, graduating on the Dean's
Honour Roll. Michael will be prac-
ticing International Business Law
with Shearman and Sterling in New
York City. Jack, Eleanor and San-
dra Coleman attended Convocation.
