Hensall vs. Exeter in World Series battle

HENSALL - In what is being
touted as the game of the century,
the staff of Queensway Nursing
Home in Hensall, will slug it out
with Exeter Villa representatives,
at the South Huron Recreation
Centre on Sunday, June 30 at 2:30
p.m.
"We've got this thing all
wrapped up," said Carol Gascho,
activity coordinator for Queens-
way. "It's gonna be great."
The event is just one in a string
of activities planned among nurs-
ing homes m conjunction with
Nursing Home Week. Throughout
June 17-21, Queensway residents,
together with their families, will
take part in a wheel-a-thon walk-
a-thon. Families canvass for spon-
sors,
b
and Queensway
volun-
teer their time
through the village streets.
All money raised between the
homes will be donated to Alzhei-
mer's Research. Funds have been
raised by the member nursing
homes of the Ontario Nursing
Home Association since 1984, and
Queensway has been involved eve-
ry year. Last year, the Hensall
Stan -Lee tour water plant

VARNA - Twenty-two members
of Stan -Lee Club journeyed to the
Water Treatment Plant near Grand
Bend on June 7. There they were
given a conducted tour of the facili-
ties.
The plant was built 25 years ago.
It supplies the city of London as
well as some other areas in its
route. A separate line feeds the
Grand Bend area and now that line
extends north to the outskirts of
Graduates - Dean Martin, son
of Mahlon and Pearl Ann Martin
of Bayfield, is graduating from
Conestoga College, Kitchener
on June 22, 1991 in the wood
technology program.
Graduates - The family of Lisa
Regier is proud to announce
her graduation from Fanshawe
College on June 14, 1991 with
her Diploma as a Developmen-
tal Services Worker and Coun-
sellor. Lisa is the daughter of
Clem and Theresa of Zurich.

Following the tour the group had
lunch at the White House Restau-
rant and a short business meeting
was held.
Marjorie and Bob Stirling will be
the delegates to Seniors Conventi-
ton in Kingston in August.
Margaret Reid and Floyd McAsh
volunteered to be the committee in
charge of the September meeting.
Elmer Hayter extended thanks to
the, committee in charge of the
meting as well as officers in
charge this past season.
Bridal shower
A skit entitled "A Day in the Life
of Tracy" vas the highlight of the
community shower held for Tracy
Hayter at the Goshen Church last
Wednesday evening.
Scene 1 was in the Hospital Re-
ception Room in University with
Peggy Keys as receptionist and
Helen Keys as the patient coming
in and Kate Keys was the candy
striper known as Mrs. Helpful.
Scene II was the hospital room
with Nurse I Linda Keys admitting
the patient (Helen Keys) from
Goshen community. Nurse II was
Marg Hayter portraying Tracy
came in tap dancing and dusting
with hairdressing accessories hang-
ing out of her pockets. Being a
nurse and hairdresser both, she got
to do the patient's hair in an hilari-
ous hair due. Laughs came from
everywhere as the skit continued.

SHIPKA = Gertie Stade spent
four days in Regina, Saskatchewan,
in mid-May when she attended her
brother and sister -in-laws, Nick and
Elsie Biesenthal's 50th wedding an-
niversary. Gertlt: was maid of hon-
our at their wedding. When Gude!
returned home, her sister, Frieda
Wilson, of New Westminster, B.C.,
came with her and spent nearly
three weeks visiting.
Last Saturday, Jim and Lenore
Orr attended a birthday party for
Lenore at their daughter Pat's and
family, in Cambridge.
About 500 people attended the
strawberry supper, last Saturday
night, at Greenway United Church.
Visiting Sunday afternoon and
having supper with Hugh and I
were our son Bill and friend Javier
Osario, both of London.
Recent weekend visitors with
John, Beverley, Sherri -Lynn and
Stephen, were Bev's sister, Barbie
and Gerald Higdon, of Rothsay.
Colin and Corey Snyder, of Mt.
Brydges, spent the weekend with
their grandparents, Ferman and Le-
ota Snyder.

Anna Keys was director of the
skit, as well as musical director
and Nora Keys was in charge of
the props.
Agnes Lampiere welcomed and
thanked everyone for coming and
introduced Mary Anne Hayter and
Le Anne Keys who sang "A Guy
is a Guy."
Nora Keys read the address and
Tracy was the recipient of many
lovely gifts. Tracy is the daughter
of Marjorie and Allan Hayter and
is marrying Paul Farquhar from
Clinton area on July 20.

everything from a walk-a-thon and

cial, Wednesday, June 19 from 6-8

Seniors met June 11 with 16 mem-
bers present.
Several will attend the Communi-
ty Information night at the Legion
on June 20 817:30 p.m.
The Village of Hensall picnic is
August 25 at 1:00 p.m. The seniors
will help with euchre and shuffle-
board.
The September meeting will in-
clude a pot luck dinner.
