Anniversary at Elimville By Rhoda Rohde THAMES ROAD - Twenty-two people from Thames Road attended Elimville Sunday School Anniver- sary on Sunday morning. Shirley Kerslake, Elimville Sunday School Superintendent, welcomed every- one. The Sunday School choir sang two numbers. Jeff Lamond was introduced as theguest speaker. He is associated with Camp Bimini and is an Exeter minor hockey coach. • He read from Matthew 18: 1-8 and also a few verses from Luke. He spoke on five different things: co-operation, anything is possible, team work, being thankful, children of our future, and a big party. He put five articles together to repre- sent the above and he had a rocket when he was finished. Tina Taylor thanked Jeff and presented him with a gift. The offering was received by Rob Lynn, Anglea and Crystal Ho- ,iius and Erin Coward. Shirley Ker- slake led in prayer. Shirley an- nounced the Sunday School members went on a Walk-a-thon apd they rasied $159. for the Mis- sion and Service Fund which they gave to Sharon Lynn. The congregation sang the Bene- diction (Taps). The flowers in the church were placed in memory of the late Bill Snow. United Church Women Melonie Miller welcomed every- one to the June meeting of the Unit- ed Church Women. The group sang How Great Thou Art. Jo -Ann Rowe read the Scripture leeson Proverbs 31: 10-31. Melonie introduced Rev. Andy Brndjar of World Vision, London, who gave a talk and also showed a film Poverty's Woman. Bangle- desh has 110 million people and it is just the size of Newfoundland. You would have to see the pic- tures to know how bad the poverty is, and to see the starving children. Lorraine Alexander thanked Rev. Andy and presented him with a gift. The offering was received by Mary Rowclifee and ,Lorraine. Melonie gave the Offertory Prayer. Rowcliffe gave a humorous reading Don't Apologize. The group sang Let There Be Peace on Earth. Janis Richardson opened the business part of the meeting with a poem Women Build the Homes. The roll call as answered by bringing a wedding picture of someone in your family. Minutes, correspondence and other reports were received. Richardson announced the camp site retreat at Camp Menesetung, June 10. Final plans were discussed about the strawberry and ham supper which is June 17. Richardson also talked about the fall regional mee- ting, at Greenway September 16 or 3. The meeting closed with the singing This Is The Day and Rich- ardson pronounced the U.C.W. benediction. Sunday, June 16, Communion services at both churches at the regular hours. The June coffee morning will be held Sunday, June 23. Those peo- ple responsible for the coffee moming please look after it on this date. Elimville Cemetery Decoration Day Service will be July 7 at 10 a.m. (Joint Worship service). Teddy Smits of Kitch4ner called on Bill and Rhoda Rohde on Saturday. The sympahty of the community is extended to Alice May and her family in the passing of her brother Leonard Pfaff. Legion Auxiliary general meeting EXETER - The Exeter Legion la- dies dart team of Irene Jackson, Es- ther Hillman, Ellen Knight and Anna Romaniuk, will be advancing to the provincial finals in Belleville on June 22. This announcement was made at the Exeter Legion Auxiliary meet- ing on May 27. Esther Hillman and Barbara Hearn also attended the district sports meeting in Owen Sound, but next year's meeting is slated for Ex- eter on May 31, 1992.
