Exeter UC honours minister
EXETER - At Sunday's church
service, Rev and Mrs. Grant Mills,
minister emeritus of Exeter United
Church were honoured on the 50th
anniversary of his ordination to the
ministry.
Arnold Mathers chairman of the
board, and Ralph Wareham chair-
man of the ministry committee on
behalf of the congregation present-
ed Rev. Mills with a pair of book-
ends, each engraved with the Celtic
cross, and Vera Mills with a cor-
sage of pink roses.

"It was a very happy occasion,"
said Rev. Charles Henderson, act-
ing as associate minister.
Rev. Mills was made a Jubiland
of the United Church two weeks
ago at the annual London Confer-
ence in Ridgetown
The Exeter United Church has
also selected a new minister to re-
place Rev. Rick Hawley who left in
April. Rev. John Hilborn from To-
ronto will be arriving to begin con-
ducting church services in Septem-
ber.

ZURICH - The Blue Water Rest
Home Ladies Auxiliary meeting
was. held June 4 in the afternoon.
The date for the ticket drawing for
the chair donated by Clarence
Smillie was changed to June the
23rd.
Two members had attended the
Region Three Annual Meeting in
Freeport and gaye an interesting
report -
A musical program was fur-
nished by Myraline Desjardinc,
Leona McBride and Mozart Geli-
nas. Doreen Ocsch read a poem
and led the audience in a sing song
accompanied by Catherine Shantz
on the piano. A picnic supper sup-
plid by the Auxiliary was then en-
joyed by everyone.
There is no meeting in July. The
next one is on Tuesday, August 6
at 7 p.m. to_ plan for Blue Water's
booth at the Zurich Bean Festival
on Saturday, August 24.

Exeter Seniors news
EXETER - A Pot luck dinner
convened by Laverne and Violet
Stone followed by cards and pro-
gram was enjoyed by Exeter Sen-
iors at their June meeting in the Le-
gion Hall.
Murray Greene, vice-president,
was chairman as Olga Davis was
on holidays.
Dorothy Bullock was pianist for
opening and closing ceremonies.
Reports were given by Laura
Dickey, secretary; Mary Neil, treas-
urer; Lois Learn, card convener;
and Alva Heywood, bus trip and
sports convener.
Trip brochures were distributed
and again we were urged to sign up
at Ellison Travel especially for the
fall tour to Irivins Inn.
Huronvicw's invitation for June
12 to dinner at 12:45 and entertain-
ment was accepted by about 30
members.
It is hoped someone will repre-
sent Exeter at the Senior's Conven-
tion in Kingston August 12, 13, 14
and at Huronvicw June 18.
Birthday greetings to Tom and
Viola Slavin and wcddding anni-
versary wishcs to Humphrey and
Ruth Arthur were extended.
Pat and Gladys Skinner, Sam and
Verna Bower volunteered to look
after bingo at the Villa, June 24, the
last until September.
Lila Smith was in charge of the
program. She read some poems and
jokes and then assisted Mary Funk
in a humours skit.
Jack Haynes, violinist, and .Mar-
jorie Johns, pianist, entertained
with various selections, concluding
with, Amazing Grace, and Till We
Meet Again."
Murray expressed wishes for a
good summer until we reconvene in
September.

CREDITON - Next Sunday
morning at Zion United Church in
Crediton the regular morning ser-
vice will be presented by the Sun-
day School with superintendent
Harry Scliroeder in charge. Please
note the change of starting time to
10:30 a.m.
Members of the Explorers will
meet Tuesday, June 18 after school
for a season windup picnic at the
church grounds.
The following Sunday, June 23,
the annual cemetery decoration ser-
vice will be held in the church at 10
a.m. with Rev. Ed Laksmanis as the
speaker.
