?Heywood's grand slam KO's co-op juniors
EXETER - After riding a fine
pitching performance to a 5-1 vic-
tory in Wednesday evening's
Western Junior Baseball League
game against Goderich, the Exeter
Co-op Juniors dropped their sec-
ond game of the week 8-4 to
Dashwood, Sunday.
Against Dashwood, Jason Hey -
wood's grand slam in the third put
Exeter well behind the eight ball,
and they weren't able to recover.
After both teams traded runs in the
second inning, Exeter pitcher Ter-
ry Guenttner got into some trouble
in the third. After striking out the
first batter, Guenuner gave up four
walks, a double to Mark Keller,
and the home run to Heywood.
Exeter fought back with three
runs of their own in the fifth, when
Doug Clarke doubled with the bas-
es load, but Dashwood played
them tough with some great pitch-
ing by Mark Keller and Derek
Masse, combining to retire the side
three times.
On Wednesday, Fred Gregus, on
the mound for Exeter, pitched a
one -hitter, while his team mates
combined for ten hits as they won
the game 5-1.
"Gregus pitched r`e r well," faiid
manager Jim Russell.

DID IT TO US AGAIN, DIDN'T THEY?
WHY DO WE LET THEM?
First of all, I thought Canada was self-sufficient in oil.
Secondly, I remember back in the mid '70's a couple of English
scientists developed a way to make synthetic crude from
garbage for about $12.00 a barrel. Whatever other problems
we may have, there doesn't seem to be a serious shortage of
garbage.
I wonder what happened to the formula.
Probably got bought up by the international garbage trust.
