Cancer canvassers - Each April dedicated Grand Bend residents go door to door collecting money for
the Lambton Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society. This year, 30 volunteers collected $6,457.75 in do-
nations, a new record for Grand Bend. An additional $600 was raised through Nancy Thomas' daffodil
sales. Shown from left are: Freda Farrell, first canvasser to finish her route; regional organizer, Lynn
Desjardine, who is presenting a collective check to Jean Wilson, campaign chairperson for North Lamb -
ton Branch; Angela Kuntz, canvasser who collected the most money; and Marilyn Beattie, a new volun-
teer.

GRAND BEND - The ladies at
the Legion warm up the food for
Meals on Wheels here in Grand
Bend, and volunteers deliver them
to area seniors. As many as 12 sen-
iors are taking advantage of these
nutritionally balanced meals, but
the volunteers would only be too
happy to see more people taking
advantage of the program. It's often
difficult for elderly people with ar-
thritis or other chronic conditions,
particularly gentlemen who haven't
done much cooking in the past, to
shop and fix meals. Cooking for
one is seen as "too much trouble"
and the nutritional requirements'
aren't met. "Meals on Wheels" can
help correct that imbalance, and put
people "in touch" with caring vol-
unteers on a regular basis. Think
