Forthcoming marriage - Mr. and
Mrs. Carmen Cable, Huron Park,

McLachlan - Rowe
Laurie and Nelson were united
in marriage Saturday, June 10,
1991 in St. Mary's Anglican
Church, Brinsley, Ontario. Rev.
Wayne Taylor officiated. Laurie
is the daughter of Allan and
June Rowe, Brinsley and Nelson
is the son of Duncan and Mary
McLachlan, Parkhill. The ma-
tron of honour was Lynne Sid -
dal, sister of bride. Brides-
maids were Anne Stoffle, sister
of the bride; Marion McLachlan,
sister of groom; Anne Hynd•
man, friend of the bride and
Melanie Hayter, cousin of the
bride. The best man was Brian
Woodburn, friend of the groom.
Ushers were Robert and Colin
McLachlan, brothers of the
groom and Les and Lee Rowe,
brothers of the bride. Flowergirl
was Marylyn McLachlan, niece
of the groom and ringbearer
was Brock Watson, cousin of
the bride. After a reception at
Lucan Community Centre, the
couple now reside at RR5 Park-
hill.

Granton by Muriel Lewis
GRANTON -Oakley
and Muriel Lewis,from the St.
Thomas Anglican Church, attended
the 53rd weekend Christian Re-
source Workshop held at Huron
College in London, from Friday to
Sunday.
Thirty-one members of the Emer-
son and Mary Wallis family met at
the home of Brenda Wallis in Lon-
don, for an afternoon picnic and
barbecue on Sunday. Those present
were from Windsor, Sarnia, Kirk -
ton, Granton and London.
A number from the Granton are
enjoyed the annual chicken barbe-
cue at Woodham United Church on
Wednesday.
The Lion's Club and friends en-
joyeda bus trip to the Toronto Zoo
on Sunday.
At the St. Thomas' Anglican
Church on Sunday the Rev Stephen
Emery celebrated the Eucharist and
his message was about the Will of
God. Muriel Lewis and the minister
read the lessons.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, the Rev. Susan Shelstead
of Lucan, was the guest minister
for the anniversary service. The ser-
mon was about talented people.
The lessons were from 2nd Conn-
thians 4 and Matthew 25. A time of
fellowship followed the service.
The Granton Youth Group met at
the United Church on Sunday eve=
ning for a Bible Study.

The St. Thomas' ACW met at the
home of Olive. (K.) Hodgins on
Thursday evening. Irene Roloson
led the meditation on the theme, the
Real Miracle that lived among us.
Marlene French read the Bible
passage from Mark 4. Two read-
ings were given by Hodgins enti-
tled Thank You, 0 Lord for the
time that is now; and a blessing by
Lois Wilson, also an excerpt from
the Farmer's Almanac by Jean
Noon.
Plans were made for a speaker at
the September meeting, There will
be no regular meetings in July and
August.

Unit 2 met on Thursday evening,
at the church when the guest speak-
er from London spoke on the sub-
ject of Aids.
Business discussion included
plans for a fashion show in Sep-
tember, the Granton Fun Day, and
the General meeting on June 11.
About 345 cookbooks have been
sold to date.
Lunch was served by Diane Die-
trich.
Unit three members and friends
had a guided tour of Interior's '91
in London on Tuesday evening,
which had been arranged by Joan
Hayden and April Bryan. The
meeting followed at Marguerite
Garretts home.
Upcoming events discussed
were the pork supper at the park,
general meeting, and a summer
outing in August.
Unit 4 met Wednesday night at
Rhea Hardie's home in London.
The leaders Marilyn Humphrey
read Luminous Life, about gradua-
tion glories, and Being Busy,
clsing with prayer. Plans for the
upcoming supper and some cater-
ing were organized and Humphrey
continued the program about the
meaning of the books of the Bible.
She also read No Greater Joy and
Father's Day.
Court Valentine
Twenty-one members were
present from London, Niagara
Falls, Strathroy,. Clinton and
Granton at a meeting in the park
pavilion on Monday. Brother Judd
Milburn, member of the high court
executive committee, discussed
the financial situation of the Fo-
rester's organization at Brantford
and also the notice of motion for
high court on July 7, 8 and 9 at Pe-
terborough.
Court Valentine held a short
business meeting when prices for
dinners were discussed. Donations
were made in memory of Eileen
Summers and Tom Coward; also a
donation to the Optimist ball team.
Arrangements were made to
present the graduation trophies at
Usbc#ne Central and Biddulph
Central schools. Plans were made
to cater to the Lion's dinner and
the"Court Carlton dinner in Sep-
tember.
Rodeo - The Lucan Optimists held a bicycle rodeo Saturday morning
at the village arena for about 50 children who came to test their
skills in handling their bicycles, and their knowledge of traffic laws.
Here Tom McLaughlin tests Todd Edginton on the serpentine han-
dling course. After the rodeo, the participants were treated to a
lunch and prizes were awarded to top scorers.
