Doctor
criticizes
council
GRAND BEND - At least one
Grand Bend councillor is not
pleased with a tetter received from
the Huron County Medical Officer
of Health.
Monday night, council read a let-
ter from Dr. Maarten Bokhout
which stated his displeasure to
council's reluctance to have a store
which sells condoms, set up shop
in the village.
1 think it's a slap on the wrist,
it's uncalled for," said councillor
Bill Uniac of Dr. Bokhout's Icucr.
In his letter, Bokhout said "we
applaud any efforts to make con-
doms more readily accessible in the
community."
• "Another factor that must be con-
sidered is that a holiday atmosphere
often leads individuals to partici-
pate in risky behaviour," read the
letter.
The Condomery is located just
off of Main Street in the village and
when it was first suggested it would
be moving to Grand Bend, Uniac
took offence to it and said it was
not the type of store which should
be encouraged in the village.
