Exeter Centennials fall to Sarnia
EXETER - There was a lot of
bickering going on during Sun-
day's senior soccer game between
the host Exeter Centennials and
Sarnia Dante.
But when the final whistle was
blown, the Centennials had failed
to win their first game of the sea-
son as they were beaten 3-0. Exeter
saw it's Western Ontario Soccer
League record slip to 0-4.
Tempers flared on both sides
Sunday and Exeter coach Dick
Lord thought the referee was a bit
lax. Late in the game, players from
both teams were finally given a yel-
low card.
Sarnia scored first on a well exe-

Darryl Chappel, Gavin Snell and Tony Armstrong played well.
Exeter scored early in the first half, but couldn't add to the
score by missing the net on some close shots. Naim proved to
be the stronger team by scoring twice and Exeter couldn't get
past their defence.

cuted play that saw the ball crossed
over to the right side of Centenni-
als' goalie Craig Winbow and then
headed high into the corner of the
net.
"I picked up the inside guy but
he hit it well. It was a good goal,"
said Lord.
Exeter had a good chance to tie it
up when Kam Chansimone crossed
the ball over to Kinsley Osworel
who headed the ball and just
missed scoring.
Chansimone had a good game
from his forward position and was
quick geuing up the field on sever-
al occassions.
Midway through the second half,
Sarnia made it 2-0 on a close range
goal that seemed to catch Winbow
out of position. The visitors had
been putting a lot of pressure on
theExeter goal.
"They're a good team with speed
up front," noted Lord.
Sarnia added one more late in the
game as Winbow made a good ef-
fort to get to the ball but it just got
underneath him as he dove for the
ball.
Eeter travels to London on Sun-
day for a 4 p.m. game against the
Norther Spurs.
