Fleming family enters 24 hour relay EXETER - The Fleming family, representing Exeter, Mount Car- mel and the surrounding area will once again be participating in the fourth annual Labatt's Blue Light 2A hour relay. Proceeds from pledges go to support the three teaching hospi- tals in London, which in the past have used money raised by the Flemings to purchase such equip- ment as an obstetrics fetal heart rate monitor, microscopes for neu- rosurgery, and dialysis equipment. Jim Fleming, the family's team captain, coaxed his relative into entering the event three years ago. "It was a rainy, miserable time," said Fleming. "But about halfway through they started to make plans on how to improve the event for the next year, so I knew I had them hooked." The team is comprised of mostly family members, and coached by parents Jean and Greg of Mount Carmel. Other members include Jim, Linda, Adam and Scot Fergu- son, Cathy and Alison MacLach- lon, Donna, Jeff, Chris and Steve Dawe, Mike Fleming and Cindy Manto, Rob Fleming, Angela Fleming and Larry Corso, Mary Fleming and Yvonne Oud. The last spot on the roster will be filled by Father Peter Hayes from St. Boni- face Catholic Church in Zurich. Last year the family raised over $2,000 and this year Fleming said he would like to double it. This year, over 2,500 team mem- bers will aarticioate in the event.
