Optimist Club to hold teen dance in Zurich

ZURICH - The Optimist Club
will be holding a teen dance at the
Zurich Public School on Friday,
May 31 from 7-10 p.m. for the
ages of 11-15 years. Admission is
two dollars and music will be sup-
plied by Rob from Hook's Party
Sound.
Gotta dance
The second annual Gotta Dance
show held at the Zurich Communi-
ty Centre on Sunday was a huge
success. The theme was "I wanna
be on Broadway" and included
teen and adult jazz dancing along
with ballet and tap. Special guests
were the Grand Cove Tappers.
First communion
Grade two pupils who made
their First Communion at St. Boni-
face Church over the past two
Sundays were Lucas Bruxer, Brian
Pole, Anna -Marie Bedard, Mi-
chael Klaasen, Steven Munn, Erin
Pennings and Melissa Welsh.
A group celebration will be held
this Sunday at 9 a.m.. mass for the
compiunicants.
Confirmation
Several young people of St. Pe-
ter's Lutheran Church were con-
firmed recently by Reverend Ste-
phen Alles at a special ceremony.
Those confirmed were: Kris
Schenk, Ryan Imanse, Blake
Schade, Sabrina Schilbe, Dan Tay-
lor and Heather Wragg.
Lions meet
Over 100 Lions from the sur-
rounding area attended the 1991
A-15 district Lions Officers
School that was held at the Zurich
Public School on Sunday.
Fair board meeting
President of the Zurich Agricul-
tural Society Paul Klopp chaired
the Fair Board meeting held
Thursday. The theme for the fair
to be held July 26-28 will be "Our
Precious Environment" and plans
are well underway. The next meet-
ing will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the
township hall.
Field trip
The grade one class at St. Boni-
face visited Morrison Dam Conser-
vation area along with teacher
Sharon O'Toole and some parents,
Bonnie Groot and Carmel Swee-
ney.
Fame
The SHDHS drama club's pro-
duction of Fame was terrific but in
my previous article I forgot to men-
tion the names of Dan Thiel and
Craig Redick who were musicians
in the performance.
Blue Water
Several members of the Blue Wa-
ter Rest Home attended a meeting
and workshop,, at the Freeport

Ladies auxiliary
Musical numbers preceded the
May Blue Water Rest Home ladies
auxiliary business meeting. Plans
for the tea and bake sale were final-
ized and the annual board meeting
for June 11 was announced.
The next meeting will be Tues-
day, June 4 with the auxiliary pro-
viding a picnic supper. Tickets will

Arena manager Jim Ramer re-
cently attended the annual Ontario
recreation facilities association
workshop that was held for a week
at the University of Guelph.

PTA meeting
A reminder for parents to attend
the Si. Boniface PTA meeting on
Tuesday, May 28 beginning at 7:30
p.m. in the gym. Elections will be
held followed by a talent show and
potluck dessert, and visitors will
have the opportunity to bid farewell
departing school staff.

Fun and fitness, loosened every-
one up Wednesday morning, fol-
lowed by a stimulating one half
hour of word games and quiz
questions. The Thursday evening
film was High Society starring
Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and
Frank Sinatra. Everyone attending
felt very nostalgic listening to all
the music from their past.

operative product demonstration
on Thursdity, June 6.

of first -cut hay. With this m mind,
the three dealerships - Carters
Farm Equipment in Exeter, C. G.
Farm Supply in Zurich, and Hyde
Brothers Farm Equipment in Hen-
sall will be demonstrating 1991's
newest and most innovative
haying products.
This will give our customers
the opportunity to see a wide
range of haying products in action
in one area," stated Joe Lobb,
,aIesman for Hyde Brothers.
"We'll (Hyde Brothers) be there
with our Gehl and Kuhn lines,
Carter's will be there with New
Holland, and C. G. will have the
New Idea line."
All haying products will be
demonstrated - haybines, mower
conditioners, round balers, and
rake tedders.
The co-operative demonstration
will be held on June 6 between 11
a.m. and 4 p.m. (rain date will be
Tuesday, June 11) at the McEwan
Farm, just west of Hensall on
Highway 84, at the corner of
Highway 84 and the second con -
