Optimist Club to hold teen dance in Zurich By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH - The Optimist Club will be holding a teen dance at the Zurich Public School on Friday, May 31 from 7-10 p.m. for the ages of 11-15 years. Admission is two dollars and music will be sup- plied by Rob from Hook's Party Sound. Gotta dance The second annual Gotta Dance show held at the Zurich Communi- ty Centre on Sunday was a huge success. The theme was "I wanna be on Broadway" and included teen and adult jazz dancing along with ballet and tap. Special guests were the Grand Cove Tappers. First communion Grade two pupils who made their First Communion at St. Boni- face Church over the past two Sundays were Lucas Bruxer, Brian Pole, Anna -Marie Bedard, Mi- chael Klaasen, Steven Munn, Erin Pennings and Melissa Welsh. A group celebration will be held this Sunday at 9 a.m.. mass for the compiunicants. Confirmation Several young people of St. Pe- ter's Lutheran Church were con- firmed recently by Reverend Ste- phen Alles at a special ceremony. Those confirmed were: Kris Schenk, Ryan Imanse, Blake Schade, Sabrina Schilbe, Dan Tay- lor and Heather Wragg. Lions meet Over 100 Lions from the sur- rounding area attended the 1991 A-15 district Lions Officers School that was held at the Zurich Public School on Sunday. Fair board meeting President of the Zurich Agricul- tural Society Paul Klopp chaired the Fair Board meeting held Thursday. The theme for the fair to be held July 26-28 will be "Our Precious Environment" and plans are well underway. The next meet- ing will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the township hall. Field trip The grade one class at St. Boni- face visited Morrison Dam Conser- vation area along with teacher Sharon O'Toole and some parents, Bonnie Groot and Carmel Swee- ney. Fame The SHDHS drama club's pro- duction of Fame was terrific but in my previous article I forgot to men- tion the names of Dan Thiel and Craig Redick who were musicians in the performance. Queensway News HENSALL - Doug and Dorothy Insley were gratified by the won- derful turnout of family and friends at their 40th Anniversary Celebration and Open House in Queensway's Activity room on Sunday May 19.
